As the first light of the morning seeped through the curtains of the room, when I woke up, the weight from the night was still on me. My heart would not calm down. I was stuck between the icy coldness between Yoko and me. I thought over and over what had happened last night, every move, every word. But there was no turning back now. Today was the magazine's photo shoot and interview, and first and foremost, we had to be professional. I had to do this, no matter how hard it was.
I went to the bathroom to get ready. My mind was filled with thoughts about today, hoping to relax a little under the hot water. There were traces of fatigue under my eyes. My reflection in the mirror reminded me of how difficult this morning would be. I didn't know how I would overcome the distance between Yoko and me, that cold wall. But we still had to do it. We had to smile, answer questions, and look like a perfect couple from the outside.
When I got ready, I saw that Yoko was also getting ready silently. We both avoided each other's eyes so as not to make eye contact. The white dress she wore radiated an elegant and simple elegance. But the coldness between us dulled even that elegance. We didn't say a word, or look. Just silence.
When we arrived at the studio for the photoshoot, we were ready to play our roles. As the make-up artists and stylists circled around us, my uneasiness grew even more. The fact that Yoko never looked at me deepened the tension between us even more. But to an outside observer, everything was perfect.
The shooting began. The cameras, the lights, the flashes... They were all focused on us. In each frame, I forced a smile on my face to hide the coldness between Yoko and me. It was a fake, frozen smile, like a piece of plastic. But no one noticed. Yoko played her role in the same way. Our arms were intertwined, our hands clasped, but I felt nothing. Even her touch felt foreign now. As soon as the photoshoot and make-up were over, we moved to the area prepared for the interview. The distance between Yoko and me was physically very small, but emotionally it was so large that the gap felt like a concrete barrier. The velvet-covered chairs we were sitting in were comfortable, but the tension between us had settled like a heavy blanket over everything. The reporter turned to us with a sincere smile as she glanced at her notes placed on the coffee table in front of us.
"First of all, it is a great honor to have you here," she said, briefly shifting her eyes from Yoko to me. There was a slight playfulness in his gaze, which immediately signaled to me. It was as if she saw this interview as a personal opportunity, not a job. I noticed this immediately, and I immediately put myself on the defensive, but without showing it.
"It's the same for us," I replied, keeping my voice warm enough. Yoko remained silent. Her gaze was fixed on the coffee cup in front of her.
The reporter leaned toward us slightly. "Your marriage is absolutely stunning. So what have you learned the most during this process?" she asked, adding a curious tone to her voice.
Although this question seemed superficial, I had to answer carefully because I didn't want to show the tension between us. I smiled, but it wasn't as forced as it was this morning. "We got to know each other better," I said. "We learned to overcome difficulties together, and we also learned to trust each other."
Yoko just nodded, but even that gesture was cold. The reporter's attention shifted to me. "Trust is very important, isn't it? Especially for such a visible relationship," she said, looking at me with deepened eyes. That look seemed to carry more meaning than just words. She didn't take her eyes off me for even a moment. I felt a slight stirring in my heart, but I quickly suppressed it.
"Yes, definitely," I said, still smiling. "Trust is the cornerstone of a relationship."
The reporter smiled slightly and glanced back at her notes. "So, are you thinking of having children? Your fans are very curious about that." This question immediately made the atmosphere between us even more tense.
