Outside Tokyo, Japan
Shinobu's pov:
Me, Nee-san, and our father were walking on a bridge since it was daytime for the two, so we were having a day off.
Samu: "Kanae, how do you like your new Haori?" He asked Nee-san, Kanae wanted a Haori that looked similar to father's coat, he sewed it for her 16th birthday.
Kanae: "I love it! It's so beautiful and I can move around in it! Thank you, father!" She cheered which caused father to chuckle.
Samu: "Thank your mother as well since she had to work hard to find the cloth and dye needed plus she helped me with the measurements and details." He humbly said before he looked at something in our direction, so me and Nee-san turned around. As we turned, we saw a girl two years my junior being walked with a frayed rope by a bald man in a striped kimono. The girl had long, messy hair, a worn down, dotted kimono.
Kanae: "Excuse me, why is that girl tied up? Is she a criminal or something?" She asked the bald man as me and father looked at the girl, who appeared to stare at something very far away or stared blankly.
The bald man: "Can't you see that it's because she is filthy and covered in fleas! Besides she could escape." He told Kanae as father snickered.
Samu: "Why are you worried about fleas? You don't have any hair, unless you don't want fleas on your dick?" He told the man, whose eye twitched as I tried to hold my laugh.
Kanae: "Hello, it's nice to meet you. I'm Kocho Kanae. What is your name?" She asked the girl while leaning close to the dirty girl.
The man: "She doesn't have a name. Her parents didn't even give her one. Anyways that's enough, so piss off." He rudely said while trying to grab Nee-san before I swatted his hand away.
Shinobu: "Don't touch my sister." I told the man.
The man: "Who are you three? If you want to talk to her, you have to pay!" He asked while shaking his hurt hand.
Shinobu: "Then I will buy her." I said while trying to get all the money in my pocket before father stopped me.
Samu: "I believe in what the Americans say "freedom of speech," so no. We're not wasting money for something cheap as words. Plus her condition is awful! If you want to sell someone, make them look appealing to the buyer otherwise it's bad business. Plus you have her chained to rope that could cut her skin and cause infection due to you not wanting fleas? Boy, fleas on your dick are the least of your problems. I think even fleas would be repulsed by your baldness." He insulted the man alone since he is kind to people but when needed, he will insult those disrespectful of him.
The man: "Why you!" He said in rage as he tried to punch the white haired man before he was tripped by father's cane.
Samu: "Easy there, don't want you breaking your leg." He said as the man angrily got back up and attempted another punch before father punched the bald man's throat. The man grasped for air before the white haired man punched the man's stomach with his cane, which caused the man to lean forward before father swung his knee at the man's face. I took this opportunity to grab the rope holding the girl and ran away with Nee-san as citizens started to circle around the two men.
Kanae: "Sorry, but what are we doing? " My older sister asked me as we ran.
Shinobu: "It's all right." I said as I grasped the rope while Kanae held the girl's hand.
Later that day...
Butterfly Mansion. We brought the girl home which surprised our mother due to the girl's condition while father came back from beating up the man. I gave the girl a bath, which was strange since she didn't scrub herself or anything. She just stared blankly. After giving her a bath, the girl sat on her knees and continued staring forward.
Shinobu: "This girl is no good. She won't do anything unless I tell her to!" I told my family.
Shinobu: "Even in meals, she won't ever eat unless I tell her to eat. Her stomach keeps grumbling." I explained.
Naomi: "Poor thing." My adoptive mother said while looking at the girl.
Samu: "Her family must have treated her badly for her body to be repressed as a defense mechanism. I would highly suggest not placing her in an asylum." He said to mother, whose brown hair blew from the wind of the open door.
Kanae: "There, there. Don't say that, sister. I like to see your smile, Shinobu!"
Shinobu: "But a kid who can't think or act for themselves is no good. It's dangerous! She can't do anything by herself!" I protested.
Samu: "This is the same girl you almost spent all your yen on to free her. If she can't do things for herself, we will slowly guide her even if it is simple things. Everything has a domino effect to it." He said to me.
Kanae: "You're right, father. Also when she is alone, she can flip this copper coin to decide! Right, Kano?" She said the name that was drawn to decide the girl's name.
Samu: "It may not be a good idea for the long run, but it's better than doing nothing or deciding for her though we technically are." He offered his opinion which was true but like he said, it was better than nothing.
Shinobu: "What!?"
Kanae: "Don't take everything seriously! Kanae is so cute!" She cheered next to the girl while my sister raised her fist in the air.
Shinobu: "That doesn't make any sense!" I protested which earned a giggle from our father and mother.
Kanae: "When the time comes, a person's heart can bloom, so it's alright. Someday, Kanao will find a boy and fall in love that will change things." She said as mother and father hummed in agreement.
