Chase walked up to the mansion. It looked like an old hotel building. The kind of hotel buildings that people have died in and haunts it. Chase shuddered. He remembered when Prunella would watch those all the time, all the movies about people going missing in the woods, bigfoot, abandoned hospitals and schools, and creepy demon dolls. But now was not the time to think about that he had a dork to save.
Chase walked in and quickly ran into the library.
"Let's s.....oh my sweet loving Alastair that's a lot of books." There were books everywhere, bookcases that went up to the high roof full of books, there was even a spot that went down stairs which was surprise surprise full of books.
"This is going to take me ages."
Buddy passed back and forth in Chase's room.
"Please be okay, please be okay, please be okay, please be okay..." Suddenly Buddy heard something from the front door. That was fast. He ran downstairs to find....
Not Chase.
Instead it was a woman who looked middle aged, with brown hair, and the meanest looking eyes ever.
"Where's Deacon? He said he'd be ready for his visit." The woman said.
"Oh um really?" Ralph scratched his head. "I don't know where he has gone, but last time I checked he wasn't here."
"WHAT?" The woman looked even scarier angry, almost as scary as Ex Libris himself.
"Ya, really I can't control where any of those kids go." Ralph sighed.
"This is f****** ridiculous, he better not of ran off with Charlie..."
"Charlie?" Buddy thought. "Who's Charlie?"
"I'm sure he's somewhere studying..."
"He better f****** be." The woman stormed out and got in her car and drove off.
Buddy walked down the stairs.
"Oh, you're still here? Just so you know I think Chase left."
"I know."
"Ok then."
"Um...who is Charlie?" Buddy didn't look at Ralph.
"You don't know who Charlie is?" Ralph asked.
"No. Is he important to Chase?" Buddy said quite quickly.
"Um...Charlie and Chase are the same person."
"Wait, what?"
"Charlie is Chase's real name, but Chase is his preferred name that he goes by. You didn't know his name was Charlie?"
"No I didn't....Charlie's a cute name."
"That's what I kept on telling Chase but he's like 'No, Charlie is not a superstar name'" Ralph took on a high pitched voice for Chase.
Buddy chuckled. "Of course."
"Chase really seems to really like you....what's your name?"
"Um..just call me Buddy."
"Buddy? Is that your actual name or..."
"No, but I guess I like Buddy more than my actual name."
"I see..."
"So how long have you guys been a thing? I keep on forgetting to ask Chase."
"Oh, it's been a few months, but...."
"Do you mind telling me how you guys first met, to make time go faster as you're waiting for Chase?"
"Oh ya, sure..."
Ralph smiled.
Deacon had Violet on his shoulder as he sneaked out of the big mansion.
"Hey!! Be more quiet, someone will hear you?!" Violet whispered yelled.
"I thought I was quiet..."
"SHHHHH!!!"
"Sorry."
"Don't say sorry for stupid reasons, you good for nothing boy." Violet huffed. They were in the back of the dungeon which is the safest exit according to Violet, but there were still Ex Libris's rookies around. Suddenly someone's phone went off. Deacon's phone.
"Shootshootshoot..." Deacon grabbed it out of his pocket and looked. It was his mother. Oh shoot. He forgot he was supposed to go with her for dinner. He couldn't push the hang up button or his mom would give him the longest and most miserable talk ever, so he silenced it. But it was too late. All the people around heard it and were now staring at them.
"Are you kidding me?" Violet rubbed her nose. "You are such a forgetful idiot!" Deacon didn't know what to do so he ran as fast as he could. It took a minute before Ex Libris's rookies followed them. They were fast.
"Violet..." Deacon huffed. "I don't know how much longer I can run!"
"Just keep running, faster, faster!!! I'm almost to freedom!"
"Wait, you mean we?"
"Oh ya we...." They were almost at the exit!!! And....what?
Suddenly Deacon couldn't move and he fell down.
"Not so fast boy..." An old man said.
Deacon became dizzy, but he could see a purple blur running toward the exit.
"She used me..." Deacon thought. "Of course she did..." Then his vision turned black.
