Chase immediately went to work, pulling out each book and checking them. If he so happens to have pulled the trigger book then so be it, he was ready for a fight. He started pulling books and looking in them but finding nothing.
"UGHHHH."
"Can you believe it?" Someone close said. Chase gasped and froze.
"No, I can't believe Boss let 2 escape, that's not fair!" Chase heard a thud.
"It's fricken stupid!!!" Another thud.
"Shhh!!! Be quiet, Boss may hear us!" Chase listened. They were in the section before Chase of books. He had to think of a plan or he was going to get caught, but before he could think of a plan, the rookies went to his sections.
"So....we met in a b..." Buddy cleared his throat. "I mean in a....in the park."
"Cool!"
"..."
"...Do you want to put it into detail?"
"Um, sure. So when....when I got to the park, he was...." Buddy paused. "Um...he was......singing????"
"Great...anything else?"
"No, not really..." Buddy walked to one of the windows and looked out of it. "He's pretty cool, though."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." Buddy sighed. "He made me realize a few things."
"What did he make you realize?"
"He made me realize that not all bad people are bad, and it's okay to be afraid."
"Oh really....were you bad before, if you don't mind me asking? I'm not going to judge you."
"Uh, in a way yes...I was forced to partake in evil things...but I'm free now...and Chase is the main reason for it."
"Oh, well I'm glad you're okay now, Buddy."
"Thank you, Grandpa Ralph." Buddy covered his mouth.
"Don't worry Kiddo, you can call me grandpa if you want, especially if you're going to be my grandson-in-law."
"Grandson-in-law?"
"Yeah, just in case you and Chase decide to get married." Ralph cleared his throat. "Not that Chase, as I know of, was going to propose to you."
"Getting married..." Buddy thought. "That would be nice, wouldn't it. We could have our own house, all of our time to ourselves, and maybe make a family of our own." Buddy smiled at that. Maybe that is what is going to happen. Maybe after all this Ex Libris business, they could get married. And Buddy was pretty sure Chase would not back out of a wedding with him like he does in the books. And it wasn't like this thought hadn't made its first appearance when Ralph mentioned it. Buddy has been thinking about it for a long time. And maybe that's a sigh to go ahead and get married.
Deacon woke up in a very trapped space.
"What the hell." All he got back with his echo. Deacon felt around and realized he was in a small metal box.
"What is this?" Deacon couldn't see anything. "Violet?" Deacon didn't know why he called for Violet, she ran to the exit leaving him behind. And it's not like Deacon didn't know she was tiny and small so she couldn't do anything. But still, it hurt. He had to think of something. The only thing he could think of was to bang on the box and yell for help, so that's what he did. He put his hands into fist and punched the box until his hands bled. He yelled for help until his voice went hoarse. But nothing was happening. This was it. He was dead for sure.
