Minji's eyes shot open, taking a sharp intake of breath.
She had fallen asleep.
She blinked rapidly a few times to get used to the bright light, pulling away from the wall she had fallen asleep on while sitting up.
Her neck killed her, she couldn't even rub it since her hands were restrained.
"Gah- fuck..."
"Oh! You're awake!"
Minji startled from the sudden voice, trying to wake herself up quicker.
'I can't believe I fell asleep.'
She looked up to see Hanni skip up to her from the desk, "since when were you down here?"
"Just came down a few minutes ago~"
The officer tensed as Hanni plopped herself down next to her, wrapping her arms around Minji's waist while resting her chin on her shoulder.
"What's wrong? Why so tense?"
''Cause you're a fucking creep.'
"I'm just uh... Not used to hugs."
Hanni frowned, "Dani was mean to you yesterday morning wasn't she? She told me that she told you that you didn't have a lot of friends."
'I mean... I guess she's right...'
"I don't care."
Hanni gave Minji a tight squeeze, the bear's head hurting from how contradictory her actions were from the day before.
Had she not been handcuffed, or wearing a collar, or stuck in a basement, or had the letter 'H' carved into her skin...
She would've thought this was how regular girls acted.
She had seen it when she was in grade school after all, groups of friends all hugging each other and linking arms...
"How old are you again?"
"Twenty-two!"
Hanni pulled away to stretch, "and Dani's twenty-two as well but she's a bit younger than me, born in the next year. She just recently turned twenty-two."
'Dani's younger than her??? What the fuck.'
She tapped her chin, "and I think you're older than me by a few months from what I remember..."
'What... the fuck??? I never told her my birthday.'
"You two are best friends?"
"Mhm! She's my day one, we met when we were little."
'God and were you two this psychotic back then??? But now that I think about it... All the people only said bad things about Hanni... They never really brought up Dani.'
"How'd you guys meet?"
To that, Hanni's smile dropped for a moment before it returned, a bit more forced than before.
Before Minji could ask, Hanni stood up, humming as she walked over to the table.
"It's been like... sixteen years, I don't really remember. We met at the park though."
'Weird... I wonder what that was about.'
She watched as Hanni cleaned the table, "do either of you guys go to school?"
"Nope! Dani stopped right before middle school, I stopped a really long time ago, before her."
'But why?'
