"Hey Minji?"
Minji glanced up from her book to see Hanni in a hoodie, "yeah?"
"I'm gonna step out for a bit, Dani asked if I could sell a painting for her since she's out. He's like... fifteen-ish minutes away."
"Oh? Okay."
Minji looked Hanni up and down, "do you have everything? You don't want to make a second trip after realizing that you forgot something at home."
Hanni patted her pockets with her free hand, and also held up the paper bag she held in the other.
"I don't need much, I'll be back soon okay Min?"
"Stay safe."
Hanni's eyes brightened, and she walked over to give Minji a peck on the forehead.
"I will~"
'Huh?'
Minji stared at the basement door, hearing after a few moments that Hanni went out fully.
'She... didn't lock the basement door...'
Minji slowly chuckled, "you trust me that much huh?"
She waited a little bit, not making the same mistake she did last time.
And after making sure that Hanni wouldn't come back, Minji walked up the stairs of the basement again.
The officer quickly looked around the simple house, walking over to a closed door to see that it was a bedroom.
And on the desk was a pair of handcuffs and a key, something Minji hasn't seen in a while.
'This must be Hanni's room...'
She scavaged around, opening the closet, all the drawers, looking around Hanni's desk.
Her uniform was nowhere to be found.
'Ah ha.'
A smile grew on Minji's face as she held up the slim rectangular box, turning her phone on.
She left the room after making sure everything was back where she found it, taking a peek into the other closed door to see a similar bedroom, except this time the desk had a bunch of art supplies.
'This must be Dani's room... Guess Haerin left with Dani... Good, I don't want her witnessing this.'
She closed the door once more, quickly heading back to the basement.
One thought ran in her mind, in her eyes, she was protecting Haerin from any harm that could come her way in the future.
She opened her phone, seeing a plethora of notifications blowing it up. Most of them were from Haerin and Hyein, a handful of missed calls from her parents, a couple from the Seoul PD.
She knew they didn't care about her.
Which still stung to this day, but...
Hanni and Dani were still criminals.
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
"Seoul PD, what's the emergency?"
"Hey, it's me, Minji."
Silence followed the call...
...
...
"Minji? Kim, Minji?"
"Yes."
"Where the hell have you been?"
