Chapter 98 Unspoken Days And A Missed Celebration

"Sit down, let's talk?"

"Good idea" They both sat in the dining room table facing opposite each other.

"How's university going?"

"I can't seem to make friends. The other classmates don't like me."

"Why not, you're amazing"

Kat smiled at the compliment and then continued. "I ask too many questions in class. They don't like how I'm the only one answering and asking questions."

"Okay, so fuck them or whatever they think of you. You know I'm always here for you. I mean if push comes to shove you are roommates with a top 20 hero"

Kat smiled sadly.

"But hey, those three seemed like a good bunch. They seem like a good group to stick by"

"So far, so good. Now tell me everything that's been going on with you."

"Well I should probably start with..I got mugged. Well he tried and failed but I did get stabbed in the leg."

"How did that heal?"

"I met someone that healed it completely. It's her quirk"

"Her?"

"She's only a friend. Plus she knows how much I adore you."

"As long as she knows you're taken"

"Basically she heals plants and people. Aka me. 2 life stories later, we're friends and I have a temporary job at the pub that her dad owns and runs"

"So this friend of yours that needed a cover was a lie?"

"Only by a bit. I did need to cover a shift. But I wouldn't call my new boss, a friend."

"Okay, continue. Why'd you hang up your hero suit?"

"I won't be needing it for a while, seeing as I am suspended"

"Why on earth are you suspended??"

"You know how I go on patrol nearly everyday?"

"Mhmm"

"Well today..There was a robbery at a jewellery store and I stopped it with help from Madam Blast eventually. Basically Nightquake didn't like that I didn't run the other way."

"Aka take the cowards route"

"That's what I said. He said it was irresponsible of me. Basically I'm on paid suspension until further notice. And he also made me hand in my hero licence."

"Why didn't you tell me any of this earlier"

"You had finally made friends. I didn't want to screw that up for you. I am proud of you, you know."

Kat smiled softly. "Thank you. I'm glad you got me off of a much darker path"

"As am I.." Davis said deciding to ignore what he said to Obsidian Fist.

"So what are you gonna do with the rest of the day?"

"Sleep it away" Davis said before yawning.

"Well then you'll probably be asleep once I get back. I'm headed off to work."

"Good luck, have fun, stay safe. Love you"

"Love you too"

Kat headed out the door and Davis turned around and headed to his room. He looked at the time on his phone as he sat on his bed then he realised the date.

It was his birthday tomorrow. He didn't even realise until right this moment. As he gets older it feels less.. special.

Plus he's never really celebrated it much before. Even when life was simpler. Even during Monarch Academy, nobody ever knew about it so he just ignored it. During the academy he usually just visited Sarah's grave and then he just ignored it for the rest of the day. He never told even Kat or Ronin when it was.
