Meera pov~
"Raj and me.....we are not blood brothers, meera."
He muttered under his breath and my eyes opened wide. My hands in his hairs stopped abruptly and breath caught in my throat, I felt like I might choke on it.
It was like my body was reacting faster than my mind could comprehend what was happening.
He gulped hard and I just could not take my eyes off his face. The hesitancy in his eyes meeting mine, the warm hands on my waist stopped suddenly and cold air from window hitting our face.
He nodded his head lightly hearing my loud silence, looking straight out to coulds and continued.
"We are not full brothers, we share same father but our moth.......our mothers are different. I am son of maasa and babasa while his mother was one of the woman kept by my father......hidden."
He said swallowing his last word and I just sat there stunned.
I could not believe what I just heard, this new revelation was not something which I ever even though about. From the day I came here I have just seen them more than brothers, a father and a son....this seems impossible.
Babasa could do this; I can not believe, the way he admire maasa no one will. And maasa, she looks happy....she loves him a lot. It was like the two different sides of same coin to which one of them was still not revealed to me.
I felt his hold around my belly tightening and I could not help but pull him more close to me. his face snuggle to my thigh and I felt my heart breaking when he hide his face completely to my lap stating in his low voice.
"My father is not a good man, meera. He was always involved with another woman despite knowing he has a loving wife and a son to take care of. I was very young at that time, when I was revealed to the actual, another hurtful meaning of relationship which does not gives you strength but truely snatch away your only pride, the pride which you put in your partner. The tied bond is not always meant to be strengh but sometimes your only weakness too."
As he began to speak, his voice low and measured, I felt a subtle shift in the room's atmosphere. His eyes which are usually so guarded, seemed to be soften, and with every word he uttered, a piece of the wall he had built around himself seemed to crumble.
He wrap his arm around my legs and I strock his cheek to give some warmth to his cold heart. I felt my heart lurding already.
"Love only gives you strength ranasa, it may get lost under the kohl of shine, desire or the veil of illusion, but its essence remains untouched beneath it."
I tried saying kissing his cheek while he kept snuggled and silent. A moment of silence followed when he spoke.
"My father use to go for battles when he was crowned as a king after the death of my grandfather. I was already born at that time and me and my mother would be left alone in kingdom for almost eight to ten months a year. He would not return but keep battling, trading with different empires in the hunger of power and control. He wanted to take over the whole hind which he successfully did but it costs us alot, meera. A lot that its price still hauts me sometimes when I look back."
His voice broke and I felt my eyes turning teary. I don't know what to say what to not because I can feel his pain somewhere of getting alone despite having everything.
