~~These walls are only as high as we make them. We put up every stone, only we can tear them down~~

Chapter 24

Luciana was awfully good at suppressing her emotions. Upon returning to the Colonia, we released her brother into the wall. She had peace of mind knowing even dead, he was still looking out for her in a way.

After the day we had, it was nowhere near over. I agreed to tag along to make the next trade. Luciana wasn't in a good mindset, though she carried herself well. And Nick seemed to get on the gang's nerves. I was coming simply to keep the peace. We waited patiently for Nick, as he was busy talking to Alejandro.

A little girl approached us, she spoke in Spanish, grabbing both our hands to guide us. "Where are we going?" I whispered to Luci. The girl rambled in Spanish, I couldn't understand a single word.

"She wants us to join her soccer game." Luci translates, "She wants us both to play so there's fair teams."

"Sounds like a challenge." I grin. I wasn't overly excited to play soccer with a bunch of children, but the distraction could be good for Luci.

The children cheered as we joined their game. We went easy on them but after a few goals back and forth Luci and I took it upon ourselves to make it a one vs one. The kids groaned frustrated as we weaved through them, sending the ball into the net repeatedly. We were pretty evenly matched.

"Alright. I'm beat." I held my hands up, severely out of breath. Cardio was never my thing. I noticed Nick watching us from the side lines. A grin ear to ear. I ran toward him, earning a grin of disappointment from the kids.

"No fair! Now we don't have an adult." A child whined.

"You wanna tag in?" I raised my eyebrows at Nick.

His eyes lit up, as if he was waiting for his turn to play. He was such a child at heart. "Gotta make the teams even." He shrugged before jogging to the game. The kids greeted him with cheers and high fives.

It was such a sweet sight. Seeing a new found friend and my boyfriend interact so kindly with the children. Nick didn't hold back, running through the kids, sending the ball through the net in record time. His team cheered.

"GOOOAAALLL." He shouted, spinning around the kids around him who joined in his cheer. Too cute, he's way too cute. He picked up a little boy, continuing his celebration, "WOOO."

I made eye contact with Luciana, we shared an amused look. "You were an illegal substitution. [Y/N] was supposed to be on the team." Luciana playfully argued. I chuckled watching the fake argument. The children seemed to love it.

"Hey take it up with the ref." Nick grinned.

"Alright, alright, we should get going." Luciana said. The children groaned in disappointment.
