"Wife?" Ivan echos with a brow raise and I lift my left hand, showing him my ring.
"I'm married." I announce, my eyes on the elevator where Valerio disappeared to.
My husband looked disappointed then pissed. At me and at himself.
"Let's go to my office." I offer, turning around to walk to my office.
Flopping down on my chair once I was inside, my eyes snagged on the paper bag he'd left behind, which was currently perched on my desk.
After a moment's hesitation, I opened it, and my stomach dipped in the strangest way.
Because at the bottom of the bag, were my top flavors of cake from my favorite cake shop.
I release a long sigh before my eyes dart to Ivan who was looking at me worriedly from across my desk.
"Are you sure he isn't mad?" he asks the question that seemed to be swirling in my head and I shake my head. "Give him a call."
I contemplate his suggestion before picking up my phone and walking to the large glass walls away from Ivan. Dialing his number, I wait for him to pick it up but he didn't.
Sighing, I call him again and at the fourth ring, he picked it up.
"Valerio, I—"
"It's Gio." he interrupts me and I bite my tongue.
"Where's Valerio?" I ask, looking down at the various buildings surrounding my company.
"Preparing for a meeting." he informs me and I sigh.
"Please, can you let him know I want to speak with him?"
Gio grunts in response and the other line was silent for a while before his breathing flowed to my ear.
"He said no, he's busy." he states and my face falls.
Things were going pretty well, I can't ruin it like this.
"Did you say it was me?"
"Yes, he claims he doesn't want to speak to you." Gio stayed silent for a few seconds before speaking up again. "Did something happen? he arrived at work so pissed, he fired an employee who just laughed too loud."
"Yeah."
Gio sighs, "I suggest calling him later in about a few hours. His phone would probably be with him by then. Good luck."
"Thank you." I mutter before ending the call. Breathing out, I turn around, walking back to my desk.
"Is he still mad?" Ivan asks me, searching my face and whatever he finds there seemed to be my reply. "Boys are so difficult, making me wonder why I'm gay. But goddamn, your man is hot."
I shake my head, muttering a smile as I rest my forearms on the desk.
"How have you been?" I ask, pushing how to approach Valerio to the back of my mind.
