The next day, Noelia woke up from his comfortable sleep, he got off from his bed but when he looked around, Maria wasn't there. He looked for Maria around the floor but still couldn't find her anywhere.
"She woke up early..." Noelia thought.
Noelia went downstairs but still didn't see Maria. Noelia asked his mother who was cooking, Rosa answered that Sebastian asked her to get groceries for us and that they were about to get busy soon.
"Where's Sebastian?" Noelia asked.
"He's in the garage doing something," Rosa replied.
Noelia went to the garage to see Sebastian who was trying to find things. Noelia knocked the opened door, Sebastian noticed Noelia at the door.
"Oh, good morning Noelia!" Sebastian greeted him.
"Hey Sebastian, mama said Maria went to the grocery store, is that true?" Noelia asked
"Yeah it's true. I'm kind of busy doing things like fixing your old bike," Sebastian answered.
Sebastian asked Noelia if there was a wrench, Noelia looked around and found the wrench which he handed it to Sebastian. Noelia asked what Sebastian was doing and Sebastian showed Noelia a bike.
"What'cha guys doing?" said Maria as she suddenly appeared with the grocery.
Noelia looked at Maria and shrugged.
"Oh, you got the groceries. Great! Just put it right there, thanks by the way!" said Sebastian.
After putting down the groceries, Maria asked again about what they were doing.
"Fixing a bike, Noelia's bike," Sebastian answered.
"Yeah...it's pretty old..." said Noelia.
Sebastian chuckled. "He used to love riding this bike everywhere. He even fell one time," said Sebastian.
Maria chuckled but Noelia felt slightly embarrassed. Then Maria told them that she was going to head back to her apartment to have lunch. As Maria was about to go, Noelia suddenly stopped her. Maria was confused and asked what was the matter. Noelia shyly asked if Maria could go have lunch together somewhere. Maria would love to but she had food at home which she didn't want to waste. Maria came up with an idea, Maria asked if Noelia wanted to go with her for lunch at her apartment.
Noelia looked at Sebastian and Sebastian said, "Go ask mother.".
Noelia went to his mother and asked, "Ma, Maria invited me to go to her apartment for lunch, can I please go?".
Rosa gave him a nod of approval, Noelia thanked his mother and went with Maria.
"You really allowed him to go, huh?" Sebastian asked.
"Well, he worked hard enough lately. He deserves some free time," Rosa replied with a smile.
Maria and Noelia were walking to the apartment, it wasn't far from the bakery and it only took a few blocks. Getting there by foot was already enough. After some minutes of walking, both Maria and Noelia arrived at the apartment complex. Maria led Noelia to her room, they walked in and Noelia liked the atmosphere. It was clean and tidy.
"Make yourself feel at home, I'll prepare the lunches," said Maria.
Noelia looked around Maria's place as he sat down at the couch. He could feel the softness and comfort from the furniture. He felt relaxed as if he could take a nap there. Then Maria called out that lunch was ready. Noelia looked at the lunch Maria had prepared, he admitted that it looked delicious. While eating their lunches, Noelia brought up the topic about the necklace.
"What information did you obtain?" Noelia asked.
"All I got was that it belonged to a man named Francisco Ballesteros Aguado but there were two necklaces. His friend Nofre got the other one. Francisco has the moon necklace while Nofre has the sun necklace. I didn't expect that the book said their reasons were ridiculous. Somehow the book said Francisco was a greedy man so he kept the necklace for himself after realizing its worth but then he lost value of it and just decided to give it to his children and his children gave it to their children and so on until now," Maria explained.
"That sounds like a long explanation even if you shortened it," said Noelia.
"Yeah, there were quite a lot really but I still think there are more," Maria replied.
"I'll look it up myself at some time," said Noelia who finished his plate.
They finished their lunches and they went to the living room. Maria asked Noelia if he wanted to do something. Noelia remembered that he had work so he wasn't sure. Noelia decided to go back to the bakery. Maria nodded and led him to the exit. They bid farewell to each other.
Maria went back inside her flat. She washed her hands then she saw Noelia still outside her apartment through the window. Maria was confused so she decided to check on him who was standing on the sidewalk. She appeared behind Noelia which scared him as he wasn't expecting her to go down.
"Oh, Maria! It's just you. Is there something I can do?" Noelia asked.
"I saw you standing on the sidewalk through the window. Weren't you going to the bakery?" Maria replied.
"Oh...ha...ha...to be honest...I wasn't paying attention on the road so...I forgot which way to the bakery," said Noelia nervously.
"Do you want me to show you the way back?" Maria offered, crossing her arms.
Noelia embarrassingly nodded. Maria started walking in the direction of the bakery which Noelia followed. They walked for some minutes, Maria also taught Noelia the directions so he wouldn't get lost if he tried to walk to her place alone.
Noelia thanked Maria for showing him the direction after they arrived at the bakery. They waved at each other as goodbye. Sebastian and Rosa noticed Noelia had finally come home.
"Finally! Come help us with the orders!" said Sebastian while working.
"Mijo, quickly serve this to table number 2 and 5!" said Rosa as she handed the food to Noelia.
As Noelia was handed the order, he immediately did his job. Noelia continued working until the bakery closed. It was going to be tiring as the bakery was busy with customers.
"So what happened in her place?" Sebastian asked.
"Nothing special, we just talked about stuff and watch TV," Noelia replied
"Are you sure? You guys aren't actually doing something right?" said Sebastian with a grin.
Noelia's face became red after hearing that comment. He denied any of those actions and restated what he was doing with Maria. Sebastian laughed and nodded. Rosa saw them and told both of her sons to stop playing around as they still got more orders. Sebastian and Noelia nodded then they continued working.
