Taking a Turn Into Pressure

Maria visited the bakery at 1 PM in the afternoon. She asked Sebastian about Noelia and he said that Noelia was upstairs. Maria went upstairs and she knocked Noelia's door. Noelia opened the door still feeling tired.

"What do you want, Maria?" Noelia asked in a tired voice.

"Me and Ethan are planning to hang out, wanna come join us?" Maria replied.

Noelia felt down after hearing that and was vexed with the idea of hanging out with Ethan again. He turned down Maria's invitation as he knew what would happen next. He told Maria that he was going back to sleep.

Maria left the bakery to leave Noelia alone. She was bummed that Noelia couldn't join but at least she could still enjoy her time with Ethan. She returned to her apartment for a quick lunch and waited until 3 PM in the afternoon.

Maria called a taxi to drive her to Ethan's college. She waited for Ethan but he hadn't come out yet. Maria decided to just go home again thinking Ethan was still studying. Before she could leave, Ethan called her from behind.

Maria ran up to Ethan and asked about his day. Ethan's day was nothing special to him as no interesting things happened. The couple started their hang out which soon after became a date. They went to a nearby cafe and grabbed a drink there.

"I kinda wish Noelia was here. It would be fun if he was around," said Maria.

"How so...do you still...have feelings for him?" said Ethan.

"No no! It's not like that. I-I...I uhm..." said Maria.

"Maria...I know your facial expression before on the bus. From the looks of it, you still harbor some feelings for you don't you?" Ethan.

The tension got higher and Maria began to sweat. She didn't know Ethan would say something like that and began to panic. She couldn't think clearly as the pressure started to catch up with her.

"Ethan, I don't know what you're talking about..." said Maria.

"You were jealous, weren't you?" said Ethan with suspicion

"Ethan...please cut it out, you're saying nonsense," Maria replied, feeling pressured.

"That girl who was leaning on him. You were jealous," said Ethan.

"Please don't stop it, I told you to cut it out," said Maria.

"Speaking about the girl, it would seem like he had moved on and not even bothered to care a single look at you and yet you probably want him for yourself even though you have me" said Ethan "Tell me...which one do you love, him or me!"

"ETHAN, I SAID CUT THE FUCK OUT!!" Maria yelled

The atmosphere became silent, everyone was watching Maria after she yelled at Ethan. She noticed what she had done. She immediately sat down and apologized to Ethan, she felt embarrassed about what she did.

"Is everything okay, sir?" the waiter asked.

"Yes, sorry for bothering. Everything's alright now," said Ethan

Maria excused herself to exit the cafe. She returned to her apartment and decided to take a break from Ethan. She thought that focusing on her mind and job would calm her down.

The next day, Maria went to her job at an automobile repair shop. She couldn't focus on her job as she was still thinking about what happened yesterday. Her lack of concentration made her performance skill decrease. She kept messing up on the repairs and decided to take a short break.

She asked herself what was wrong, why couldn't she focus on her job and ignore yesterday's event. Her coworker asked about her condition, the coworker saw Maria daydreaming a lot. Maria didn't know how to respond and she somehow kept seeing Ethan everytime.

"Am I getting crazy?!" Maria panicked.

Her breathing was uncontrollable and her heart was unstable. Maria almost fell and passed out but she gathered her remaining strength so no one would notice. However, one of her coworkers caught her.

Her coworker reported Maria's condition to her boss. Maria's boss went up to her, her boss told her to go home and take a day off. She looked like she wasn't feeling well. Maria took the advice and went back to her apartment. She was also confused on how her boss knew but she speculated that her boss somehow noticed.

"Finally, maybe I should just get some rest," said Maria.

Suddenly someone knocked on the door. Maria went to see and opened the door, she was shocked to see Ethan.

"Ethan? Shouldn't you be in college and why are you here?" Maria asked.

"I have my own schedule and what's wrong with me visiting my own girlfriend," Ethan replied while smirking.

"Can you just leave me alone?" said Maria, feeling uncomfortable with Ethan's reply.

"Alright fine, I'll leave!" said Ethan while shrugging. "Just get well soon. I would be very sad not being around you."

After Ethan left Maria's apartment, she felt relieved but her mind was still not at peace. She tried to watch some TV channels but it didn't work. She had a feeling that her relation with Ethan could get worse. She stopped thinking about it and became lost in her own mind.

"What should I do to forget about these crappy problems...what would Noelia do..." said Maria.

She then got an idea and decided to take a nap hoping that it would help her. Sadly even naps didn't work as she began to feel a lot more tired than before with all the constant thoughts.

"Ugh...even naps are futile," said Maria in her head.

Ethan met his friends after leaving Maria's apartment. His friends wondered about the results going with Ethan and Maria. They were eager to hear their friend's news.

"How did it go?" one of Ethan's friends asked.

"Soon...she'll be mine forever. Right now, she's still resisting but I have my ways," Ethan replied.

"In what way do you mean?" another one asked.

"You'll see, I would do everything it takes to make her mind. Starting tomorrow...I'll begin my plan," said Ethan with a serious look.

Suddenly Maria became ill and couldn't go to work as days went on, she didn't get a good night's sleep yesterday as well. She stayed at her apartment until she got better. Her parents got the news and sent medicine to her daily. Ethan suddenly appeared and brought flowers.

"What are you doing here now, Ethan?" Maria asked.

"I came here to visit you and also to apologize for what I did. I admit that what I did wasn't right and said nonsensical things to you. I'm truly sorry for that...please forgive me," said Ethan sincerely.

Maria's heart felt warm after hearing Ethan's apology. Maria took it as a sincere one and started to think that Ethan wasn't always annoying and still had a considerate heart. Ethan could be more mature than she thought. So both of them reconciled with each other.

Ethan looked at Maria's face as he was glad that it worked. His effort would come into fruition if he kept being consistent. Ethan was determined to make Maria happy in order for her to be his.
