As I said earlier, he always found a way out of a problematic situation. That's how it is now – Seth has found out how to return Magic to her powers. Because of this, of course, we could get into an even more difficult situation, but this does not negate the fact that he did solve the issue.
"We're going."
Magic chuckled loudly, completely mirthless. We all turned to her immediately. Seth hadn't taken his eyes off her since he'd walked into the room.
She didn't say anything and, turning around, went towards the chamber. Seth sighed loudly and followed her.
"What are we waiting for? Get ready."
He threw it to us before leaving.
As always, I waited until Seth had disappeared around the corner – and then I raced in the same direction. I also didn't miss the image of Hunter rolling his eyes. Well, to hell with it.
I understood perfectly well what caused Magic's fears. The lack of magic could be fatal for each of us. Or for everyone at once. There is no protection except healing potions, which may simply not help in an emergency situation. I don't think Magic was ready to cause the death of any of us. Even if she wasn't attached to the three of us.
And Seth, I had no doubt, was a little upset by her refusal. She was the only one who had the right to challenge his decisions. And he usually gave in. At that moment, the stakes were very high – Seth believed that he owed it to Magic.
"Stop."
I didn't miss a second. Lucky me.
Seth gently stopped Magic by wrapping his arm around her forearm. How do I know it was gentle? I think you've already remembered for yourself – he never touched her harshly.
Magic turned around. She looked absurdly funny. I've never seen her like this before. She wasn't looking at Seth, her face was displeased. Offended. God, I'll never forget this.
"Madeline..."
He drawled wearily.
"What?"
Her gaze was still focused somewhere on the wall.
We were supposed to go on an insanely dangerous mission, and I was standing there, barely holding back my laughter.
"You do understand that I can't do it without you, right?"
I. He didn't say "we". It got to the bottom of me.
Magic remained silent.
"Madeline..."
Now both of Seth's hands were on her forearms, and he somehow charmingly pulled Magic to him – to hug her. But she just stood there, not moving. She behaved like a child.
"I'm mad as hell at you."
Finally, she said.
I could only see the back of Seth's head, but I felt him smile.
"Let go."
She began to push him away, placing her palms on his chest.
"I'm tired of it."
Seth chuckled. Instead of me.
But he pulled away anyway. However, it was very slow.
For the first time in this conversation, his and Magic's eyes met.
"If we all die, it will be your fault."
Seth grunted again.
"You're not going to die."
