3. THE CLUB
WHEN THE WEEKEND ARRIVED, LUCY did what she had agreed to do. Got all dolled up and hit the clubs with Stacy. Looking for a way of forgetting about Nathan. It's not like the two had even dated, so Lucy assumed she wouldn't be affected by him going back to England. But over the past year, she felt like he had been stringing her along. Practically gushing about a potential relationship between the two of them, only to leave as soon as he graduated with a ticket he bought almost a year before.
The strobing lights, music and alcohol had allowed Lucy to finally let loose. Moving her hips to the beat as she danced with Stacy. She was glad that Stacy decided to dance along with her rather than hang out at the bar with Tyler; who was on shift tonight. But Stacy had promised her a great night and she was certainly one to stick to her promises.
"You look happy!" Stacy yelled over the music. Noting her friend's carefree appearance.
Lucy grinned, "I feel it!" She confessed, "Thank you!"
Stacy grinned. Looking proud as she threw her arms around Lucy's neck, "See! I told you!" She leaned closer to Lucy's ear, "Now, there's a gorgeous blonde guy who won't stop looking over at you by the bar. Go for it!"
When they pulled away from one another, Lucy discreetly glanced over her shoulder. She instantly spotted the man Stacy had been referring to, seeing as his eyes were already locked on her own. He sent her a smile and nodded her head in a silent greeting.
"But I thought we were having a girl's night?" Lucy asked, turning back to look at Stacy.
Stacy rolled her eyes, "We're here to get him out of your head. And this is the perfect way to. So, go," She grinned, pushing Lucy forward slightly.
Lucy nodded, "Okay, do I look good?" She asked, still looking at Stacy.
"Gorgeous!"
Lucy let out a soft chuckle before she turned away from her best friend and made her way across the dance floor, pushing past the sweaty bodies as she made her way over to the bar. She gave Tyler a quick greeting before she leaned against the bar. The mysterious blonde guy's eyes never once left her and he was quick to move up towards her.
"Hi," He greeted her, catching her attention.
"Hi," She smiled.
"Can I buy you a drink?" He offered.
She bit her lip, "Sure," She nodded before reaching her hand out, "I'm Lucy."
He smiled warmly and shook her hand, "I'm Toby," He used his other hand to call over one of the bartenders.
Luckily for Lucy it was Tyler who he caught the attention of. He ordered a glass of whiskey before turning to the brunette beside him. Tyler kept his eyes hard as he sent Toby a nod.
"The usual," She nodded at Tyler. His gaze softened when he looked at his friend before he went off to prepare their drinks.
Toby chuckled, scratching the back of his neck, "I think the bartender is jealous."
Lucy laughed, shaking her head, "No, no, trust me he's not. He's just being protective," She explained watching Tyler come back with the drinks. He passed Toby his before then placing Lucy's in front of her, a napkin on the top of it. They thanked him and watched him go to tend to someone else.
"Protective?" Toby raised his brow, raising his glass of whiskey up to his lips.
Lucy hummed, she took the napkin off of her Vodka-Coke and sipped it, "He's my best friend's boyfriend," She explained, noting Toby's shoulders relaxing slightly, realising that he wasn't going to be in a strange competition with the bartender over the young woman.
"Ah, okay," He chuckled, "That's understandable then."
She smiled. Her eyes glancing over to the dance floor, "Wanna dance?"
Toby slammed back his drink. He lifted his hand, his palm facing upwards, "Definitely."
Lucy grinned at the camera, shrugging casually, "Yeah, maybe I did go back to his place with him," She chuckled, sending a wink at the camera.
