LUCY WAS SPRAWLED OUT ON the couch in the family room. A bowl of sweet and salty popcorn rested on her lap whilst her eyes were focused on the movie playing on the TV. For the first time in, she couldn't even remember how long, she had the house completely to herself. Alex had a viewing at a college and so Phil and Claire went with her. Also dragging Luke along with them as a punishment for his recent behavior. Haley, for some unknown reason, just jumped in the car with them, which left Lucy to enjoy the peace and quiet that wasn't a normal occurrence in the Dunphy household.
She had called Stacy to come over, but unfortunately she had to work overtime. Toby and her had already been over before they even started, with Toby revealing that he actually already had a girlfriend, and the only reason he decided to take Lucy out was because of a argument they had had before his girlfriend left to visit her parents in a different State. But now that she was back, he decided to finally tell Lucy about her.
"And the other kicker..." Lucy spoke into the camera, "...Was that her name was also Lucy. What a scumbag."
She let out a groan when the doorbell rang. Pulling her out of the peace she created for herself. But she didn't pause the movie or even move an inch on the couch, hoping whoever was outside would get the message and leave.
But they didn't and the doorbell rang once more.
She groaned but this time moved the popcorn bowl onto the coffee table and paused her movie. She dragged her feet toward the door and swung it open, jumping in surprise when she spotted Diego standing there. Looking much more casual than when they were at work together. But his posture still held a presence of professionalism around him.
"Oh, hi," Lucy greeted.
"Hi, sorry," He quickly apologised, bouncing on his feet nervously and smiling sheepishly, "Is Mr. Dun- your dad- Phil here?"
Lucy grinned teasingly, "Mr Dun, my dad, Phil is not here," She told him, watching as he blushed furiously and looked down at his shoes, "What's up?"
"Oh, I just needed to give him these and take the keys for the Open House on Monday," He explained, gesturing to the two files he held in his hand, whilst his other one scratched the back of his neck.
"I can sort that out for you. Come in," She said, pushing the door open more to allow Diego inside.
He thanked her and followed her inside, shutting the door gently when he got in.
