June 2012
Eric Park and the got into their dressing room as they put on their individual costumes for the debut. It was as Eric expected, dark leather pants, black v neck short sleeve, and a shiny vest.
"I don't understand the futuristic concept. Is the whole point for us to shine like a disco ball?" Eric sighed. Kpop fashion never made sense to him even when he was at the competition. Everything had to be so elaborate to the point of parody. Sometimes he wonders if Kpop was a genre of excessive wear.
Putting on his clothes one by one, he checked on the mirror to see if they were exactly how he wanted it.
"I guess I don't too bad, still the shiny grey makes me like look the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz." Eric could see a little glistening effect from the light. It was clearly shiny by the looks of it. He thought he looked like MJ during his Rock With You era.
"Are you done yet?" Came the voice of Eric Mun politely knocking the door.
"I think I am. I wonder how you think." Eric opened the door revealing his costume. Lee Hyori who stood beside him marveled at his costume.
"You look handsome there young man. You really are shining, literally!" She laughed.
"Indeed Hyori-ssi. It seems JYP has done a great job picking out the appropriate costume. It's in line with current trends. Jungkook and Joshua are still changing. Now that your costume is ready we need to get your hair and face styled. Come follow manager Woo." Mun instructed.
Eric then followed Woo across the studio room.
"He looks handsome, a little shiny, but handsome nonetheless." Hyori commented.
"I do agree on the shiny. The current fashion industry has changed a lot since we were idols."
"Technically you are still one Mun-ssi." Hyori clarified.
"I know that. You know what I mean! You're just teasing me!" Mun poked her shoulder while she laughed.
Eric sat there in the chair waiting for all the boys to finish changing. He never imagined getting ready was this much of a hassle. Getting their hair styles, their costumes on, and their makeup ready takes a lot of time.
Joshua was the first to finish, then it was Daniel, followed by Jungkook, Changkyun, and then Matthew. Each of the boys had slight variations to the shiny leather jacket and pants. Daniel, Changkyun, and Daniel were given a more boy bad look as their hairs we're styled with a G Dragon like look. Joshua, Eric, and Jungkook were given a more pretty boy look focusing more on showing off their visuals. Eric has noticed how popular he has gotten by his looks alone. He never would have guessed he could play the visual role.
"You're looking fresh my homies. Damn Eric they got you on that pretty boy shit!" Matthew teased.
"This is the biggest change I've seen from you. Y'all look way too pretty." Changkyun said.
"Why thank you Matthew, Changkyun. It took longer than I expected it to be. I never imagined there was much work just for makeup." Joshua laughed.
"You mean you never tried makeup before?" Jungkook said.
"Guys generally don't wear makeup in the West. In Western culture often times more masculine traits tends to be more highlighted. I personally don't have a problem with makeup. We're musical artists right now. I like to think makeup as a form of art. You all look very handsome guys. This is our time, our time is now. All of our hard work since this competition began has finally paid off. I feel honored to be your leader and I promise to God I will do my best! This is Orbix blasting off!!" Eric gave a motivational speech towards his team.
