Dining hall
Laxita's POV
I woke up early this morning. Actually, I couldn't sleep well last night. I was both nervous and thrilled to start my first day. I quickly took a bath, wore my saree and headed towards the dining hall. I joined Vanya, Nakul and Yash at the breakfast table.
"So, are you ready for your first day?" Yash asked.
"I am kind of nervous but yes I am ready. I actually couldn't sleep all last night."
Everyone smiled except Nakul.
"Nakul, how is University treating you so far?" I asked trying to initiate a conversation. I have been dying to talk to him since yesterday.
"It's fine, I guess," he replied.
I was kind of disappointed with his response. It has been months since we last saw each other but he still didn't seem much enthusiastic about our meeting. I kind of knew that my feelings towards him were stronger than his feelings towards me but it still kind of hurts.
"For me, this University life is doing wonders," Vanya interrupted.
She must have understood my discomfort so she tried to change the topic. And honestly, I was thankful. We chatted a little bit and then all of us headed to our classes. Our classes were conducted indoors or outdoors depending upon the subject we chose.
I entered my class and sat at the corner seat, near the window. All the students started filling in and the class was full in no time. Some students came and talked to me and I was happy that I could make new friends now.
"Is this seat taken?" A girl asked me.
"No"
"So, can I sit here?"
I nodded.
"Keshavi naam hai mera. Aur tum?"
"Mera naam hai Laxita, mil kar accha laga."
("I am Keshavi. And you are?"
"My name is Laxita. Nice to meet you.")
"Where are you from?"
"Kshatra Gadh. And you?"
"Varshapura"
I came to know that her father was the army general of Varshapura. Also, we had chosen the same subjects which means that we will be attending all the classes together. I was talking to her when our Guruji (teacher) entered the class. We greeted him and the class began. It was my very first class and it was really exciting. Half a day passed and then during lunch break, I sat with Keshavi. We enthusiastically talked about our day.
The entire day passed by in a blur and I was able to build a friendship with Keshavi.
I returned to the dormitory and found that Keshavi's room was also nearby. So, I asked her to join me for dinner.
