Laxita's POV
As soon as the match ended I heard loud cheers and claps. I turned to see that everyone was watching us. I didn't even know that we had an audience. Keshavi came running to me and hugged me.
"Why have you never told me that you handled a sword so proficiently?!", she squealed.
"Adbhut! Laxita, aap bahut honhaar hai. Apko toh talwaar baazi vaikalpik vishay ki jagah mukhya vishay ke taur pe lena chahiye tha. Par chalo koi nahi. Apka bhavishya ujjwal hai. Aise hi parishram karte rahiye. Meri shubhkamnaye apke saath hai," Guruji said while complimenting me.
("Wonderful! Laxita, you are very talented. You should have chosen swordsmanship as your main subject instead of optional subject. But no worries. Your future is bright. Keep working like this. You have my best wishes.")
I was overjoyed when he said that. My partner also complimented me followed by everyone else. Everyone was asking me about how long I practiced to master all the movements. How did I do it and so on.
During dinner time, Keshavi was boasting about me and everyone was listening keenly. She literally hasn't shut up since then and has been pestering me all day. All her compliments are making me blush.
"I knew you had received basic training but I never knew that you were this talented Laxu," Vanya said.
"Stop. Please not you too," I replied with a goofy grin on my face. I was literally very happy with my achievement.
"It's not such a big deal. Why is everyone making such a fuss about it. Anyone can do it," Nakul interrupted and my smile vanished.
"What are you talking about, it's a great start," Yash countered.
"If you don't have anything nice to say, please don't say anything at all," Keshavi supported me.
But the damage was already done. Tears welled up in my eyes. I stood up and said, "Mujhe bhook nahi hai, tum sabh kha lo." After that, I ran away from there.
("I am not hungry, all of you should eat.")
I could hear everyone's voice calling out to me but I was so upset that I didn't stop. I came running to my bed and lied down crying. How could he say that to me. He just downgraded my achievement. After crying for a while, I didn't know when I drifted off to sleep.
Next morning, I got up early and took a bath. I wore my saree, tied my hair, got ready and opened my door to leave. Both Vanya and Keshavi were standing in front of my door. I saw concern in their eyes. They were probably worried about me.
"Kya tum thik ho?" Vanya asked.
("Are you alright?")
"I am fine. You don't have to worry," I replied weekly.
I am not fine but they don't have to know that. They were not convinced by my answer but they didn't probe it any further. The entire day, I was in a foul mood. I saw Nakul at lunch time but I chose to ignore him. I sat down at another table for lunch.
"Kya tumse baat kar sakta hu?" Nakul asked. He was standing in front of my table.
"Nahi," I replied.
("Can I talk to you?"
"No")
"I am sorry. I shouldn't have said something like that."
"Do you mean it? This apology?"
"Yes. I am sorry. I was in the wrong."
"Fine. I forgive you," I smiled. I was instantly feeling better now.
In the evening, I decided to take a stroll in the premises. I asked Nakul to join me and surprisingly he agreed. He was being quite docile today. I was staring at his handsome face when I saw something. Not something but someone. It was Yash and Vanya.
"Quick, Hide!" I whisper shouted and pulled him behind a nearby tree. I know it is bad to eavesdrop but I was very much interested in their conversation.
"What are we doing?" Nakul said. He was definitely confused.
"Look over there and shush," I whispered.
We started hearing their conversation.
"Are you close with Aarav?" Yash asked.
"Yes," Vanya replied.
"So...do you like him?"
"What?! No, I don't like him. He's just one of my friends."
"Then it's good."
"Why? Does my relationship with him bother you?"
"No, it's nothing like that."
"Then why are you asking me that? Also, you've been acting strange for the past few days. Is something wrong?" Vanya asked folding her hands to assert dominance.
Oh wow! Things are getting really interesting. I'm enjoying this way too much. I looked at Nakul to see his reaction. And, yes he also seems pretty invested. I smiled and then continued my eavesdropping.
"You say nothing's wrong but then you ask me a 100 questions if I try to talk to someone. Last time you interrupted me when I was talking to Rajesh. Then another time you pushed Samar when he patted my shoulder. Then it was this another time when you punched-"
"It's because I LIKE YOU!" Yash literally screamed.
"I have been in love with you for god knows how long and you don't have any idea about my feelings. I like the way you you smile at me and the way you look at things from different perspectives, it is really admiring. I like how down-to-earth you are, you care for everyone and I love to spend time with you," he declared.
My oh my. Such a passionate outburst of emotions. It was a sight to behold. Vanya was shocked and confused. She was just staring at him without blinking.
"I think we should go," Nakul said, spoiling all the fun.
"Why? I want to see..." I protested.
"No, it is their private moment and we are encroaching. Let's leave," he said.
Despite my protests, he pulled my hand and dragged me away from there. Well, at least we were holding hands. We are one step ahead in our relationship. I wondered if Nakul has ever confessed his feelings to me. The answer is no. He never did. I confessed multiple times and his reply was always just a nod. But I did want him to confess his feelings in the future. I wonder how does it feel when someone confesses their feelings to you. I can only imagine...
Nakul and I parted ways and went to our rooms after that. I took a bath and changed into my night dress. I lied down on the bed and quickly got comfortable. Night dresses really are the best. Why can't we wear them outside? I was preparing to sleep but then suddenly a question popped in my head - What would be Vanya's reply to Yash's confession?
