After rolling up the sleeves of her beautiful blue dress, she aimed at the tree trunks with peeling paint on the three trunks, at what should have been a target, in frustration.
Her arrows stuck in the trees, but never in the center. It was humiliating to have the blood of a monster hunter in her veins, but to be so bad at her chosen weapon.
That's because the sword was too heavy for her, she tied a terrible knot in Trevor's whip when she tried to use it hidden and archery was the only thing that didn't seem to be a danger to her and the others.
The moonlight entered the forest through the gaps in the leaves of the trees. She didn't hit any arrows in the center, which was the fault of Trevor who never trained her, always telling her that he could protect her and she shouldn't worry about that but study philosophy, art and other languages with Sypha.
Sypha didn't even teach magic. She was the daughter of a Belmont and her mother was an orator who used elementary magic, yet they wouldn't let her learn. Why?
She was useless in her Belmont way and her mother wouldn't teach her magic for the world.
Until she felt a presence among the trees. The hairs on her arm stood on edge.
The young woman shot the arrow in an empty direction, but her hunting instincts, inherited from Trevor, alerted her to something like a sixth sense and the arrow whizzed into the darkness where Selene's sight couldn't reach.
But her arrow, the thing from the forest parried it, threw it to the ground and with inhuman speed approached her like a figure that materialized into a handsome boy with dark hair and ruby-red eyes.
"Let me guess... Your father told you 'no' about taking you hunting again, my love... Is that why you're so angry?" His velvety, purring, sensual voice made her wobbly-legged.
"Hunrum..." She answered in a few words, head down, stomping on a tree branch with her boots in frustration.
Selene took aim at the handsome dark-haired man with the ruddy eyes and slung her bow over her shoulder, bringing the pointless training to an end. Her lifelong friend since her first bleeding.
That strange being who followed her and awakened her most primitive desires. The one who had always been there when she was happy, when she was talking and even when she was angry, like now.
His skin was as pale as hers. But on his always exposed abdomen there were squares of muscle. His nails were like black claws, something very demonic, but when he touched her he was very gentle and never hurt her.
He always walked around shirtless and wearing a white petticoat full of strange golden chains, barefoot, on his skin there were strange designs that looked like hieroglyphics and on his forehead there was a red mark. She lowered her bow and arrow. She felt him wrap his arms around her waist and he sniffed her neck and kissed the back of her neck.
She let out a soft moan and pulled him by the hair, encouraging him to continue kissing the back of her neck in a tug on his dark strands.
"You're not really here, are you?" the girl asked the strange being who plagued her dreams and taught her about pleasure, but never revealed his name.
"Being just an astral projection... It never stopped me from giving you pleasure before, darling." He whispered in her ear and nibbled on it. "When I join you in the flesh and claim you as my wife... it'll be perfect, I promise. Soon I'll come to you and propose to your father."
Selene blushed, she was so happy. She kissed the man she loved gently on the cheek.
"I can't wait for you to come, darling. " she confessed, shyly.
"Now, Selene... Is the damned half and half still surrounding you?" He looked at the beautiful creature suddenly and his eyes, once warm, became distant. "I don't like it when the vampire half-breed gets close to you. I want to rip his fucking heart out of his chest."
"Alucard is just my parents friend and my godfather. Your jealousy is unfounded. " murmured the girl, to the handsome man beside her. "He brought me into the world in a certain way, as he emphasizes so well in the stories of my birth. He always says that there was no time to call a midwife and my father, despite being used to blood, would faint if he saw my mother giving birth, so he had to deliver the baby." Selene laughed, rolling her eyes at the way Alucard always said he delivered her and brought her into the world. For that, she should be grateful to him and always call him her dear godfather.
"Feelings change." Cain noted, looking at the beautiful woman in front of him with a somber expression. "You attract the damned, my love. " he informed her, stroking her cheek with his thumb, but taking care with the nail that looked more like a claw. "The freak is half vampire, he feels you, just like I feel you. He smells the delicious scent of your lunar perfume, begging for a companion to assuage your loneliness."
"Stop, love," the girl asked. "I'll tell you a secret I've realized... He's in love with my parents, darling. Platonically, of course. And now he's married to Greta, but Alucard has always had a soft spot for Sypha and Trevor. Always. " Selene mocked, shrugging and studying the man of her dreams. "And you know, my love... I only have eyes for you... Alucard sees me as a child of his best friends."
"You should go home now. It's late," said the being thoughtfully. "Soon your father will come looking for you, Selene."
Speak of the devil. Selene thought when she returned home and saw Alucard with Trevor.
Sypha had gone to find the speakers who had shown up to see her and they were in Gresit by all accounts.
Selene discarded her bow, slung it over her shoulder and placed it on the iron hook on the wall and did the same with the quiver of arrows on her back. Then she walked over to the handsome blond.
"Hello, dear godfather..." Selene greeted Adrian thoughtfully.
"Happy name day!" Adrian wished, lost in deverie.
Selene smiled and nodded her thanks.
"Thanks to you, I breathe in the world, godfather." Selene teased Adrian.
Selene realized that Adrian was serious and unfathomable. He was the one who had teased her, saying that he had brought her into the world and if it hadn't been for him... she wouldn't have been born... But now he was too far away.
"There are rumors about you in the forest, talking to yourself and doing other inappropriate things that, just out of respect for your father, I won't name..." Alucard said suddenly. "Some say you've been talking to the devil and giving yourself over to him... What's going on, Selene? You know I have no history of caring what the lying church says, but this time... it was the villagers themselves commenting about you."
