Taehyung trudged through the front door, exhaustion etched on his face. The hangout with Yerin had been a much-needed escape.
But now reality came crashing back.
Taehyung's eyes widened in surprise as he took in the messy state of the living room.
He had been looking forward to a quiet night in with Jennie, but it seemed she had been too sick to clean up after herself.
He spotted Jennie curled up on the couch, a box of tissues beside her and a blanket wrapped snugly around her shoulders.
Jennie sniffled, her voice hoarse. "I'm sorry, Tae. I was going to clean up, but I felt so terrible..."
Taehyung's expression darkened as he glared at Jennie, his voice rising in anger. "You're always like this, Jennie. You do nothing but sit around all day, expecting everyone else to clean up after you. Your group is on hiatus, so what? That doesn't mean you get to be lazy."
Jennie's eyes widened, hurt flashing across her face. "Tae, I'm sick...I wasn't feeling well."
But Taehyung was beyond reason. "You're always sick, Jennie. You're always tired. Maybe if you tried working for once, you'd actually accomplish something. I'm tired of carrying the load around here."
Jennie's face crumpled, tears welling up in her eyes. "That's not fair, Tae. I do work hard..."
The room fell silent, the only sound Jennie's quiet sobs. Taehyung's anger slowly gave way to regret, but he couldn't bring himself to apologize.
Not yet.
Taehyung's words hung in the air, a palpable tension between them.
Jennie's tears fell silently as he turned and walked away, leaving her alone in the messy apartment.
The silence was deafening, the only sound Jennie's quiet sobs. She felt a chill run down her spine as she realized..
Taehyung was gone.
Without even trying to understand her side.
Jennie curled up on the couch, her body wracked with sobs. She had never seen Taehyung so angry, so hurtful.
The apartment, once filled with laughter and warmth, now felt empty and cold.
Taehyung's departure left a gaping hole, and Jennie was left to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart.
-
Taehyung settled into his studio, his mind still reeling from the argument with Jennie.
But as he thought about his upcoming date with Yerin, a spark of excitement ignited within him. He couldn't wait to see her, to talk to her, to vent to yerin about his frustrations with Jennie.
He had always been drawn to Yerin's calm and collected nature, her empathetic listening ear.
He knew she would understand him, offer him sage advice.
And maybe, just maybe, she could help him make sense of his tumultuous relationship with Jennie.
He smiled to himself, anticipation building in his chest. Tonight, he would let his guard down.
let Yerin in.
And maybe, just maybe, he would find the clarity he so desperately needed.
As Taehyung and Yerin sat down at the cozy little café, he felt a sense of excitement and nervousness. He had been looking forward to this date all week, eager to vent to Yerin about his relationship woes.
"So, Tae, what's been going on?" Yerin asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "You seemed a bit off when we last met."
Taehyung took a deep breath, ready to dive into his relationship issues... but then he looked into Yerin's eyes and forgot what he was going to say.
"Actually, Yerin, I've just been really into my music lately," he said, a smile spreading across his face.
"And, what about you yerin? how have you been?" Taehyung asked, his eyes locked on hers. "I feel like it's been ages since we last caught up."
Yerin smiled, her eyes sparkling. "I've been good, Tae. Just busy with solo activities and stuff. But I've been thinking about the old days, you know? Gfriend, our debut days..."
Taehyung's eyes lit up. "Oh, yeah! I was just thinking about that the other day. How are the other members doing? I feel like I've lost touch."
Yerin's expression turned nostalgic. "Yeah, it's been tough. We all went our separate ways after disbanding. But I think we're all doing okay. Umji's been focusing on her solo music, Eunha's been acting...Sowon's been doing variety shows..."
Taehyung listened intently, his mind flooded with memories of their debut days, their comebacks, their late-night conversations.
"That's great to hear," Taehyung said, genuinely happy for them. "I'm glad you're all doing well. Do you guys still keep in touch?"
Yerin nodded. "Yeah, we do. We have a group chat, and we try to meet up when we can. It's not the same as it used to be, but...we're still close."
Taehyung smiled, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. "That's really great, Yerin. I'm happy for you guys."
As they talked, Taehyung found himself opening up to Yerin about his passions, his dreams, and his fears.
He talked about his art, his love for photography, and his favorite books.
"I'm so glad you're pursuing your passions, Tae," Yerin said, her voice filled with encouragement. "You have so much talent and creativity."
Taehyung felt a warmth spread through his chest. "Thanks, Yerin. That means a lot coming from you."
As the night wore on, Taehyung realized he had forgotten all about his problems with Jennie. He was too busy enjoying Yerin's company, too caught up in the joy of connecting with someone...
who truly understood him.
"I'm so glad we did this, Yerin," Taehyung said, as they finished their coffee. "I feel like I can be be myself around you."
Yerin smiled, her eyes sparkling. "You can always be yourself around me, Tae. I'm here for you."
