Taehyung's eyes scanned the kitchen, looking for ingredients to prepare a nourishing meal for Jennie. He decided on a warm, comforting bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup, accompanied by a side of steamed vegetables and whole-grain toast.
As he cooked, his mind wandered to Jennie's condition, and he felt a pang of regret for not being more supportive.
He hoped that this small gesture could make up for his absence.
Once the food was ready, Taehyung carefully placed it on a tray, along with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and the medicine from the table. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come.
With the tray in hand, Taehyung made his way to Jennie's room, his heart racing with anticipation. He gently pushed open the door and was met with a sight that broke his heart.
Jennie lay in bed, her eyes sunken, her skin pale, and her body weak. She looked like a shadow of her former self.
Taehyung's resolve wavered, but he knew he had to be strong for her. He approached the bed, tray in hand, and whispered softly,
"Jennie, I'm here. I've brought you some food and your medicine. Please, eat something."
Jennie's eyes widened in shock as she saw Taehyung standing in her room, a tray of food in his hand. For a moment, she just stared at him, her mind racing with confusion and anger.
"What are you doing here?" she demanded, her voice shaking with emotion.
Taehyung hesitated, taken aback by her reaction. He had expected her to be weak and vulnerable, but instead, she was fierce and guarded.
"I...I came to check on you," he stammered, trying to cover up his true intentions. "I was worried about you, and I wanted to make sure you're okay."
Jennie's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing through his lie. "Don't hurt me anymore, Taehyung," she whispered, her voice cracking with pain. "Just leave me alone."
Taehyung felt a pang of guilt, knowing he was deceiving her. But he couldn't bring himself to tell her the truth - not yet,
Not when she was so vulnerable.
"I promise, I just want to help," he said, trying to sound sincere. "Please, just eat something, and take your medicine. I'll leave afterwards, I promise."
Jennie's expression remained stubborn, her eyes flashing with a mix of anger and frustration. "I don't want to eat," she said, her voice firm. "And I don't want you here, Taehyung. You're just like everyone else, always telling me what to do, never listening to how I feel."
Taehyung's eyes widened, taken aback by her outburst. "Jennie, I'm just trying to help," he said, trying to placate her.
But Jennie cut him off, her words tumbling out in a rush. "No, you're not. You're just like Hanbin, Hanbyul, and my mom. Always nagging me to eat, to take my medicine, to rest. None of you care about how I'm really feeling. None of you understand what I'm going through."
Taehyung felt a pang of guilt, realizing that Jennie was right. He had been so focused on his own doubts and fears that he hadn't stopped to consider her perspective.
"Jennie, I..." he started to say, but she interrupted him again.
"Just leave me alone, Taehyung. I don't need your help. I don't need anyone's help. Just let me be."
Taehyung's face set in determination, he tried to feed Jennie, but she was having none of it. As soon as the spoon approached her lips, she jerked her head away, her eyes blazing with defiance.
"Stop it, Taehyung!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the room. "I won't eat! And I won't let you force me!"
Undeterred, Taehyung tried again, but Jennie was too quick. She knocked the spoon out of his hand, sending the food flying across the room.
"Why do you even care?" she screamed, her face red with anger.
Taehyung's face darkened with anger, his patience wearing thin. "Jennie, stop being stubborn!" he exclaimed, his voice rising.
"I'm your boyfriend, and it's my responsibility to take care of you. Now y ou need to take your medicine, and you need to eat. But since you've thrown away the food, now you're going to take your medicine, at least."
He grasped her arm, trying to pull her towards him, but Jennie resisted, her eyes flashing with defiance.
"Let go of me, Taehyung!" she shouted, trying to wriggle free.
"I won't take anything from you!"
Taehyung's grip tightened, his anger boiling over. "You're being unreasonable, Jennie! You need your medicine to get better!"
But Jennie's response was like a slap in the face. "Let's break up," she said, her voice cold and detached.
Taehyung's eyes widened in shock, his mind reeling with disbelief. He had come to Jennie's house with the intention of ending their relationship, but now,
She was the one asking for it.
"Let's break up," Jennie repeated, her voice firm.
Taehyung's mouth opened, but no words came out. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut. He had expected resistance, anger, or tears, but not this.
Not Jennie agreeing with him.
A wave of fear washed over him, his heart racing with uncertainty. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. He had thought he wanted to end things, but now, he wasn't so sure.
"Jennie, I..." Taehyung stuttered, trying to process his emotions.
But Jennie just turned away, her expression resolute. "It's for the best, Taehyung. We both know it."
Taehyung's mind was a jumble of conflicting emotions. He had thought he wanted to break up with Jennie, but now, he felt a sense of loss, of uncertainty.
He didn't know what he wanted anymore.
