(Leo) I saw her.

(Athena) I saw him.

(Leo) She was... beautiful.

(Athena) He was perfect.

(Leo) After this...

(Athena) This is the only moment we have until...

(Leo) I kill her.

(Athena) I kill him.

ATHENAS POV

I started slowly down the aisle. Our eye contact never broke. The stems of the lavender bouquet I held in my hands were completely crushed my fists were clenched so hard. I could hear people gasp, hear them whisper. In the front row I could see the back of my mother and father's head. I wish they weren't here. I hated them I turned my attention back to the man before me. Gosh he was so handsome. Hair styled. Face groomed.

The chapel was decorated beautifully. Vines and flowers of all pastel colors hang from the ceiling, giving the room a forestry vibe. The alter was made of white wicker fence and strung with lavender and vines. Gold accents were painted all around the room, matching the crown that adorned my head. Selena did a beautiful job.

It felt like forever until I finally reached him. He held his hand out and I grabbed it as I climbed the few steps to the alter. Beside me stood Sofia and Aries and on the other side of Leo was Angelo. I could already here Sofia sniffling from behind me. I looked at the ground to conceal my smile. Leo grabbed my other hand gently and I looked up into those eyes of ice. The priest cleared his throat. "Ladies and Gentlemen, we gather here today to celebrate these peoples' love for each other. To make their bond official. And rule our kingdom from this day forward." Leo smiled at me like a loving partner would and I smiled back. I could feel my father's eyes boring into my skull as if to remind me to play a good part.

The priest asked for any objections and all the boring stuff before we reached the important part. "It's now time for the couple to read their vows." Shit. "We are going to do those in private after the ceremony." Leo replied calmy and I let out a breath I'd been holding in. The priest nodded and continued. He turned towards Leo, "Prince Leo, will you have this woman to be your lawful wedded wife, to live together in the state of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor her and keep her in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others keep you only unto her as long as you both shall live?" Leo looked at me with an emotion I couldn't quite place. He squeezed my hands extra tight, almost to the point of pain, "I do." He then slipped the small golden ring on my finger.

The crowd quietly "awed". The priest then turned to me, "Princess Athena, will you have this man to be your lawful wedded husband, to live together in the state of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor him and keep him in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others keep you only unto him as long as you both shall live?" I smiled at the priest and turned towards my fiancé, "I do." I whispered loud enough and with enough emotion that the crowd leaned in in awe. Then I slipped the wedding band onto his finger. I could hear Sofia break down behind me and I tried not to laugh. The priest smiled, "Then I now pronounce husband and wife, king and queen! You may now kiss the bride."

Kiss. I forgot about the kiss. Leo gave me a "don't screw this up" face and then leaned in. My heart stopped. His lips touched mine and it felt like a bomb went off in my mind. My chest, My stomach. Everywhere. His lips moved softly against mine, then roughly. Then he remembered we were in front of a crowd of people. He pulled away and I didn't want him to.

He looked at me with so much lust in his eyes my entire body tingled. The crowd erupted into claps and congratulations as we made our way down the aisle. I completely ignored my parents' presence, not yet ready to converse with them and instead enjoyed the joyous time. All our friends were crying, even Angelo, which was a funny sight, and my heart felt so full in this moment. Once the chapel started to clear and people started to head to the after "party", Leo dragged me away to "exchange vows". He pulled me into a dark hallway and pinned me against the wall. It's coldness bit into my skin and I shivered. "My wife..." Leo whispered as he traced his finger from my collarbone, up my neck, along my jaw and finally, swiping it across my bottom lip.

"That you want to kill." I breathed out and he gave me a small, playful smile. "Yes." He whispered. Then grabbed me by the throat and pulled me forward, so my ear was pressed against his lips. "But I want to do many things to you, tesoro. So many things." Goosebumps erupted across my arms, and he chuckled. The tips of his fingers grazed up my arm and it made me shudder. "Your body reacts so well to me, mi esposa." The new nickname puzzled me, but that thought was diminished as soon as Leo's lips found my ear lobe and kissed it gently, before biting it. I gasped and I could feel him smile into my hair as he pulled away. "Come on, amor. We have a party to get to."

The party was only for special guests. There were only about twenty people left from the actual ceremony. Selena found me a gave me a big hug. "That was beautiful." She whispered before pulling away and giving me the smile of a proud mother. "Now, if you need a planner for you and your husband's coronation, you know where to find me." She winked before wondering off to go try and recruit new clients. Sofia and Aries found me next. Aries gave me a big hug and Sofia just watched, smiling. "I love, love." She wooed before giving me a quick hug and then begging me to come "party hard". I laughed but shooed her away to go dance with Angelo. I had to face my parents and get it over with.

My parents were lingering in a far corner. "Mother, father." I spoke as I walked up to them. "Athena." My father replied. My mother just watched like an emotionless statue, as per usual. "I'm proud of you Athena," my heart dropped to my stomach, "you put on a good show up there. Almost made me believe you two are truly in love." I stood in shock. Never have I thought those words would leave my father's mouth. Never.

"T-thank you." I stuttered accidentally, rewarding a small, disappointed sigh from my father. My mother just nodded in agreement and spoke three words, "Good job, Athena." For the first time in my entire life I had my parents full approval. I didn't think it would feel this good. But my celebration what cut short when a servant came rushing in, straight for Gabriella. I watched curiously as the old man whispered something into her ear. Her face dropped and she stood frozen as the servant hustled away. I then watched as Gabriella moved swiftly to Leo, and whispered something in his ear. He looked unfazed. Then I watched he walk towards me and my parents.

"My father's dead." He spoke so nonchalantly I didn't even register the words he said until a few seconds later. I just cocked my head to the side and stared at him. I wasn't going to apologize. Not because I was an asshole but I because I know Leo doesn't care. So instead I said, "Congratulations."

This made Leo smirk, "Always surprising me, tesoro." The moment was cut short when I finally noticed what was happening behind me. My mother had collapsed to the ground in a fit of tears. My father just stood and watched. "What's going on?" I whispered angrily to my father. He just gave me a devilish smile, "She got what was coming for her. They both did."

And suddenly it clicked. Why my father and Leo's father hated each other so much. Why there was a rivalry. Why my father wants me to kill Leo. It's all because they both fell for the same girl. Aka my mother. Are you kidding me? That's why I was sent on this horrid mission? What the fuck.

Leo and I just glanced at each other. It's like he read my mind and I read his. He's thinking the same thing. What do we do now?
