How does one even cope with seeing both of their closest friends' murdered bodies in front of their own eyes? Truth is? They don't. At least I didn't. I've been so lost and so out of touch with reality I don't even know what's real and what's fake. I keep having these dreams where Sofia and Aries were alive, their deaths were just a nightmare. But then I wake up from that dream. It's bizarre how the human mind works, especially when dealing with something as large as loss.

Leo has been at my heels every second of every day, worried sick about me. I keep telling him I'm fine and he needs to get to work, but he doesn't seem to believe me. He got extra protective once he found out that I've hurt myself and done so in the past. He hardly lets me out of his sight at all anymore, unless there's an emergency with either kingdom. I haven't called my parents back. I don't know how they are. I've allowed them to remain living in the castle because I don't want to step foot in that horrid place again. We also haven't heard anything from Alton, but we are holding onto this peace period for as long as we can.

After we gained control over Facia, we were able to save my people, giving them the medicine and resources they need. That was my little bit of happiness I clung onto. Oh, and the fact that I'm pregnant. I found out a few weeks after Sofia had passed. I was eight months along. My bump was rather large and watching it grow was the greatest joy of my life. This made Leo ten times more protective of me. This baby has saved me. I've been doing so much better because I want to be better for her. I don't know for sure if she's a girl, but I have an idea.

I walked into Leo's office, and he smiled when he watched me waddle in. "Hello, tesoro. You're glowing." I grinned as he stood and walked over to me. His hand landed gently on my stomach and I smiled up at my amazing husband. "Mother looks great on you." He whispered and I gave him a kiss, "I can't wait."

I left him to work and headed back to our room to change into leggings so I can go for a walk in the garden. It has become one of my favorite pastimes. I ran into Angelo on the way. "Hey, A!" He said enthusiastically. I smiled and waved, "What's up?"

He just smiled, "How far along are you now?" I patted my big belly, "Nine months in a week." He smiled again, "Perfect." I stared at him and laughed, "What's perfect?" Angelo just grinned and reached into his coat, pulling out a long knife.

I giggled nervously, "Uh, Angelo, what are you doing with that?" He just tapped the sharp knife against his chin, "I can't remember... oh wait yes I can!" He paused, "To kill you!"

I laughed nervously again, "Is this some kind of joke? Because it's not funny."

"Was it a joke when I cut off Aries head? Or when I stabbed Sofia in the stomach? I don't think it was, was it?"

My heart stopped, "W-what do you mean?" I asked, starting to back away from the crazed man before me.

"Athena, I killed them. Easy-pz-lemon squeezy." I held my stomach protectively and went to yell when Angelo cut me off.

"I wouldn't do that. You so much as peep and I'll drive this so far into your stomach your kid will die instantly."

"W-Why are you doing this?" I stuttered, staring at the shell of the man I thought I could trust. The betrayal cut deep into my soul. Angelo rolled his eyes, "I wanted power, Athena. I wanted wealth. I wanted to be Leo. He has everything, always. He got everything he ever wanted because unlike me, he wasn't a bastard child."

My brows dipped in confusion, "What do you mean by bastard child?" I questioned slowly. "Oh shit, right, I forgot to tell you. Leo's father cheated on Leo's mother with your mother, who then gave birth to me in secret."

My world shattered. What the fuck? "You're my brother?!" I gasped and Leo looked at me perplexed, "Yes. Honestly, don't know how you didn't see the resemblance." My mind was whirling, "But that means you're also-" He cut me off with the wave of his hand, "Yes, I am also Leo's brother. Strange world, isn't it."

This was too much for my pregnancy brain. "So why are you doing all this now?" I asked. "Because I can. And because I killed Alton. That was a pain in my ass, by the way. Anyway, I then forced my way into power and did what I did to your friends. Capiche?" He asked, swinging the knife around dangerously.

"So, you did all this, for revenge?" Angelo frowned, "Well don't say it like that, that makes it sound stupid." I shrugged my shoulders, "I mean it wasn't necessary." He scowled at me, "I wouldn't rile up the man with the knife, Athena."

"I just can't believe you could do all this so easily. To your best friends. And I thought you loved Sofia?" My voice cracked at the mention of her name, and I saw hurt flash across Angelo's face. "I did love her. But she didn't love me back. If I couldn't have her, then no one else should be able to."

I nodded like I understood. I just didn't want him to get angry. "Also, I wouldn't worry too much about your parents. I burned down the palace, or at least the part they were sleeping in, about ten months ago. I think they tried to give you a call before the carbon filled their lungs, but you didn't answer..." His voice traveled and he looked up at the sky wonderly. "What a shame." My mind hummed. My parents are dead? They've been dead. For months.

"What the hell is wrong with you!?" I suddenly bursted, screaming at him. Angelo's face turned bright red with anger and stormed up to me. "Great. Now your little prince is going to come running. I should've just killed you earlier."

He suddenly grabbed my arms, trapping me against the wall tightly. I squirmed and kicked but he wouldn't budge. Fear seeped through my veins and my adrenaline kicked in. My baby. I had to save my baby. I fought but it was no use, I just locked eyes with Angelo.

He had my hands pinned tightly above my head as I squirmed beneath him. The blade twisting between his fingers. He held it up to my throat. I was afraid but refused to show it. "Hurt me." I said between gritted teeth. He just gave me a sorrowful glance before driving the dagger into my flesh.

The pain was indescribable as he dug the knife deep into my side. He twisted the blade before yanking it out and tossing it to the side. It clattered to the ground as I screamed in pain. I clutched the wound, trying my best to keep the blood from flowing, but it was no use.

My nostrils started to burn as I inhaled... smoke? Angelo looked around before looking back at me. "That's my cue to dip, A." He then ran off, leaving the stinging of the wound and the sting of betrayal.

I hobbled around. I had to find Leo. Clutching my side, I limped around. "Leo?!" I screamed into the air, inhaling a ton of smoke in the process. I coughed and fell to the ground. My eyes started to shut, and sleep lulled me into the darkness.
