Sunlight poured through Leo's giant window above his bed. I've been awake for twenty minutes now, watching him. There was something so humbling about Leo in his sleep. His face was so soft, so calm. Now scowl. No deadly look. Just peace. For once, he looked his age. Like a young man just sleeping. But once he woke up, the truth would be revealed. That he's anything but.

I arose quietly, padding my way softly to the bathroom to shower. My body felt sticky and gross from last nights, actions, and I needed to feel clean. I could hear Leo's soft snores through the door, and it made me giggle.

The water felt warm, and I welcomed it graciously as it rolled down my body. I washed myself with Leo's soap and the smell of his scent was driving me crazy. After drying off and changing into an extra pair of clothes I brough from my old room, I crept back into the room quietly. My hand flew up to my chest and I yelped as I found Leo sitting up, staring at me. "Hello, wife. We have much to do today."

I raised my eyebrows at his tone.

"Like what?"

"Like preparing for our coronation to take over two whole kingdoms."

"When is the coronation even scheduled for."

"Next week."

Next week?! That's preposterous.

"Then after, we have a ball to meet with the other kingdoms and formally introduce ourselves as King and Queen." He continued. My mind spun. That's a lot of events I have to mentally prepare for and not a lot of time to do it in. Especially becoming queen. The most important role I'm going to have to play. I haven't even had time to think with all the chaos happening in the last couple months.

"Anything new with Alton?" I asked and Leo's eyes shot up from his laptop. "No. He hasn't tried anything." Hm. That worried me a bit. Especially since we were married now. It's easier to take down two united people rather than two independents. I shivered and prayed that he wouldn't make another appearance.

"Did you know Angelo and Sofia are a thing?" I asked, trying to keep conversation going. It was awkward as hell just sitting in silence. Leo cocked his head to the side, clearly thinking deeply about my question. "That makes sense." He just muttered before returning to whatever he was typing. So, I guess it's going to be awkward silence, then. And I guess no mention of last night whatsoever.

"Okay." I said blandly before turning to leave. "Athena," Leo called and as always, my heart jumped when he said my name, "close the door all the way on your way out please." I rolled my eyes. I don't know why I expected some sort of confession.

The hallways were empty, and the castle seemed calm for the first time in weeks. Until preparation for the coronation started up. So, I decided to bask in the calamity for as long as I could. As I was walking, I heard a door shut behind me. I turned to see Sofia stumble out of what I'm assuming is Angelo's room. I snorted.

"Rough night?" Her head shot up and her face turned bright red. Once she saw it was me, her shoulders straightened and she smirked, "I could ask you the same thing." I stuck my tongue out at her and she laughed. I rolled my eyes "It's not a big deal."

She gaped at me, "Of course it's a big deal!" She nudged my ribs gently and invited me to go eat breakfast with her and Angelo. I gave Aries a call to come join us and soon we were sitting around the large dining room table with an array of breakfast foods placed before us. "Where's the hubby?" Angelo asked me, shoving a strip of bacon into his already full mouth.

"Working." I replied nonchalantly and Angelo tsked me. "Day after the wedding, a shame. He's such a workaholic." Sofia nodded in agreement and then pointed her fork at me, "You need to fix that. Call him right now and say you want him down here. I guarantee he'll come running in two seconds."

"No, I don't want to bother." I replied, hiding my blush. Truth is, I know Leo won't come, and I don't want them to get suspicious. "Come on, do it." Angelo pressured and Aries and Sofia nodded in agreement. "I love seeing him become all soft around you, it's hilarious." Sofia spoke, throwing her head back in laughter and Angelo smiled at her lovingly.

"Fine." I gave them a fake smile before dialing Leo's number. "Hey... love." I choked the word out, but Sofia and Aries didn't seem to notice as they just stared at me in awe. I could almost see Leo's amused face through the phone. "What's up, love. I'm working."

"I know, but can you please come down here for breakfast?" I could feel his ego inflating from the other side of my screen. "Okay." Then he hung up. Okay? Seriously? When has he ever chosen me over work. And, he doesn't even know all our friends are down here. Sofia was right. Barely two minutes later he came sauntering into the dining room, looking sexy as per usual. His hair was still mussed and his tight-fitting t-shirt almost made me start drooling.

His eyes widened as he glanced at the party. Sofia smirked, holding her hand up to Angelo, her palm facing up. He huffed before placing a fifty-dollar bill into her open hand. My mouth dropped. No way they bet on this. "What a delightful sigh to see this morning." Leo grunted before coming to the sit beside me. As he sat, he placed a soft kiss on my forehead, and I felt three pairs of eyes burning into the back of my head. "So cute." I heard Sofia whisper and Aries giggled. "Let's eat!" Leo boomed as he shoved an entire sunny side up egg into his mouth.

Breakfast went smoothly. Conversations hung in the air as we all chattered away like a family. I guess I considered these people my family. Definitely the few people I trust. The rest of the day flew by and by eight o clock I was wrapped back up in Leo's arms. We have less than a week to enjoy this bliss until the clock starts counting down. It was weird to think how safe I felt in his arms in this moment and how in only a few days they will attempt to be the death of me. The thought made me shudder and Leo's grip on my body tightened.

"Cold?" He mumbled, his voice husky with sleep. I shook my head, burying myself deeper into his warmth. Soon he fell asleep, his chest slowly rising and falling. I lay awake, though. My thoughts running haywire as a thought occurred to me. I did not want to kill Leo. I didn't. I was in love with him. But I had to kill him. I know he doesn't love me back, and he will kill me the instant he's allowed. I hadn't realized, but a tear had fallen from my eyes.
