Sun and Moon| Luke Castellan Story

Chapter 21

The next morning I was practicing sword fighting again, against Chris and this time my brothers were there and some other campers, and I finally beat  him, which didn't involve me throwing his sword somewhere.

"Nice, job Koa!" He said excitedly as it took me like 3 days to actually beat him at this. "Thanks." I replied as I rubbed my neck. "You're getting, good at this." He said and as he said that I hear Clarisse come over. 

"Let me try." She said in her calm but challenging voice. "Clarisse..." Chris warned but she ignored him. "I wanna see how good she's got, plus I've been bored."

"Fine." I said, as I grabbed my sword I felt Chris grab my arm and he started to tell me something. "Clarisse isn't as easy going as Luke, and me. She's not going to go easy on you. In fact she might actually hurt you, trust me I know and I know her. Just try to stick your defense up more because she is supper aggressive, and that could be your best shot at not getting hurt that much."

I watched as he looked back at Clarisse, I saw how he looked at her. He cares about her, to be honest he's pretty down bad for her, I mean I can't talk but...whenever he looks at Clarisse it looks like he's in love, I mean they do look close and from what I've seen she's only nice to him. 

"C'mon, it doesn't take that long to grab a damn weapon!" I hear Clarisse say as I get up to go against her. I stand right in front of her, and to be honest she is intimidating but me being a couple inches taller makes it seem less more intimidating.  But that just might be because I'm taller than the average female being 5,7, my dad is around 6,3 so that's why me and my brothers are pretty tall. 

We started fighting, and let me just say that Chris was right. Clarisse didn't hold back I had to keep my defense up, because every single time she would charge at me faster than before with her spear, well at least what's left after Percy broke it. 

When she finally got a hit on it hurt like shit! I groaned trying not to make too much noise as she dug the front of her spear into my stomach. She kept hitting me in the same spot with that stupid spear so I just punched her in the stomach, and it was hard. I know I'm stronger and faster than a lot of girls my age and some boys but that might just be genetics and I'm Polynesian, Polynesians are just normally natural athletes. 

I watched her stumbled back like she'd been shocked. She looked at me with wide eyes then her expression shifted from being shocked to anger, and now I knew why she was the head counselor for Ares cabin. She started charging at me harder than before and quickly. 

She got some pretty good hits on me and I got some on her but I immediately fell when she kicked my knee. She started laughing so did all her cabin mates, and that just made me furious as she literally hit me where I'm injured and she hit most of the spots where I had healing scars no doubt that it's going to take longer to heal. I got and pulled her in by her collar as I was pissed, and we started getting in each others face. 

"What's the matter can't handle a hit?" She says as she started taunting me. 

"I can't handle a hit? You can't go one second without fighting dirty!" We started going back and forth before we were broken up by Luke, and Chris pulling us back so we wouldn't fight each other. 

"At least I can fight! You barely even hit me, you basically let me hit you!" She retorted and I just started to clap back without even thing about what I was gonna say. "Want me to hit you right now!?" 

"DO IT!" Right when she said that I tried to get out of Luke's grip, and Clarisse tried to get out of Chris's, we kept going back and forth till we heard someone shout. 

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?" It was Chiron and he didn't look happy. "Koa, Clarisse what in gods name are you two doing?!" 

We both didn't say anything as I've never seen Chiron this angry, I mean he did look pissed before he came over here. While looking between us he looked to see Luke and Chris holding us back. 

"I suggest you solve this!" He then trotted away, I'm not gonna lie I would much rather be yelled at by my father than Chiron because I don't know why but that just made me feel bad for fighting Clarisse. We both eventually apologized but it was more like a just saying sorry not actually being sorry, Chris, and Luke did take us somewhere the other wasn't. Me, and Luke sat in the forest in silence as he stared at me and I was looking at the floor.

"You okay?" Luke asked

"I'm fine." I say as I still look at the floor, I feel him move from his seat to being right next to me. "You scared me for a second when you feel, I thought you were really hurt." 

"Why are you always here for me? You barely know me." I tell him "Because I want to." He says. "I want to get to know you, I want to know the girl you are. I've seen how you are with your brothers, with Cleo. I want to know you, I want to know who Koa Ofa is. Like who she really is, not just some facts that you've told me."

 "Did I tell what I wanted to be when I'm older?" He shook his head no. "It's pretty obvious that I wanna play softball, I want to go to university of California. It's not the only college that offered me a scholarship but it's the closest to home..."

"What about after, or if that doesn't work out?" He asked me. I've always thought about this but the only thing other than sports I'm good at is music, and baking. Music is for my free time when I'm bored but baking I'm actually really good at, I always baked sweets at home like cookies, cake, cupcakes, and some traditional Tongan deserts that my nana would teach me to make. 

"Maybe baking or music, but my dad also has a family shop back in L.A so maybe I'll work there" I told him and he just smiled and continued to look at me. 

"Sorry I keep staring it's just that... your eyes looks so beautiful in the moonlight." After he said that I blushed a bit.
