I ran up to my room as fast as I could. Mom was dead asleep. I threw some clothes and my pajamas into a bag when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. It was Marie. Before I could say something she put up her hand. I started at her confused. "Marie? What's wrong?" I asked. She pointed to her throat and tried to whisper. "Are you going to see those guys?" I stared at her in disbelief. Her voice sounded terrible. "Yes, what happened?" She shook her head, no. She whispered again. "Can they do something for my throat?" I nodded, understanding now. "Come on, we should go right away." I hiked up my bag and tugged on her arm. She let me drag her down to the porch and then planted her feet. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I'm scared. Can I wait here?" I nodded, remembering how it scared me at first too. Marie is scared. Marie is actually scared. I ran to them right away. Kota was the first to notice the look on my face. "Sang, what's wrong?" They all turned their attention to me. "It's my sister Marie. Mom did something to her throat and it's worse then mine. Can she come along so you can do your best to help her? Please? I'm really worried and Marie's scared too. Probably about her throat and she might be scared of you too. So please?" I ran back to Marie. Kota and the others had taken my bag and I was going to walk over with Marie. I could tell she was worried about being around all the guys, but she had to be. She had said she wanted to meet them anyway. We came through the door right in the middle of them arguing. "Boys!" Mr. Blackbourne yelled. The boys instantly hushed and bowed their heads. I lead Marie over to a chair. Dr. Green observed her throat, as did Kota. I held tightly to Marie's trembling hand. "It's burned." Dr. Green said. Kota added on. "Worse than Sang's. There might be slight permanent damage after it heals." I felt like I was going to hurl and Marie choked back silent tears. At least you'll be lucky enough to get your voice back. But it what did she use to burn it worse than mine? "Marie?" She looked up at me. I read the same question in Dr. Green's eyes. "What did she use?" Fear filled her eyes and anger started to boil inside me. I could tell she knew they were all silently asking the same question. "I know this is new to you but you have to trust me. You have to trust them. You have to trust us." She stared at her lap. Dr. Green lifted her chin to look in her eyes. She opened her lips and whispered. "Bleach." Kota stood there in disbelief, and Dr. Green took her in his arms. "Why did she do that? She only threatened me the first time my throat got burned!" Anger filled up inside me. When someone planted a hand on my shoulder without thinking I spun around with my fist out. It was Mr. Blackbourne. He caught my fist. "Sang." He warned. I backed away and ran out the door, heading for the woods. I only heard a couple of pairs of footsteps and only two voices. Victor's and Kota's. I ran through the woods, twisting down different paths. Once I had bought myself some time before they actually found me, I slumped down against a tree and buried my head in my knees. I cried. I cried because I was angry at my mother. I cried for my sister. I cried because I tried to punch Mr. Blackbourne. I cried for everything, and at the same time nothing at all. Ten minutes later most of my tears had dried out but I was still crying. I finally heard the familiar sounds of footsteps and buried my head deeper. "Sang!" "Princess!" They both ran over to me and hugged me like they thought I was going to run away again. "Princess are you hurt?" I shook my head. "I'm fine, go away." "You are not fine, or else you wouldn't be here right now." Victor said. Kota straightened out my legs and sat on them. He lifted my face to look at him. He stared into my eyes, full of concern. "Sang. You're sister is really worried and you shouldn't have taken off like that. You're side is still injured. We were really worried too." Another tear rolled down my cheek and he held me tightly. "Why did you take off like that anyway?" Victor asked. "I tried to punch Mr. Blackbourne." He nodded in the oh yeah, kind of way. "Do I have to go back and face him now?" Kota nodded. He looked at his phone. "Mr. Blackbourne explained everything he was going to talk about, so most of the guys are leaving and Dr. Green is walking Marie home. I'm going to have Dr. Green tell her you're safe and we need to head back now." I sighed and Victor carried me back to Nathan's house. Nathan, Dr. Green, and Mr. Blackbourne were sitting on the couch talking. Victor had to leave so when I walked in I tried to hide behind Kota. I peeked over his shoulder. He laughed, and so did Dr. Green and Nathan. Mr. Blackbourne had on his signature millimeter smile. Kota whispered over his shoulder. "I have to go, Sang." "Please don't." I whined. He stepped out of the way and left me standing there. I slumped to the floor and tucked my head in my knees. "Peanut?" He came over and picked me up, pulling me in his lap. I buried my face in his chest. "Sang why are you hiding?" Dr. Green asked. Words started pouring out of my mouth. "I didn't mean to try to hit you Mr. Blackbourne but I was just so mad at my mother and I felt like punching something I guess. I'm really sorry. Please don't kill me." I heard a small laugh. "Miss Sorenson I'm not going to kill you." "You're not?" He shook his head. "You wouldn't have been able to hit me anyway."

I lay cozily in Nathan's bed, buried deep in the covers, thinking about what a crazy day I just had. And how crazy days were starting to become normal. I sighed, burying myself deeper. "Goodnight, peanut." "Goodnight Nathan."
