Chapter 20 The End of a Love Story

I'm sitting on the couch smiling as Adrien is showing off his A+ he got on the assignment. "Great job buddy! I'm proud of you" I smiled softly as I had my arm wrapped around Rose who was reading the paper " You did an amazing job" She smiled, handed him back his paper and he gave us a hug and ran off to his room. "He grew up so fast" I smiled to myself as I look at the wall in front of us that has a baby picture of him hung up " He has" Rose agreed "Life has gone by fast" " I still remember meeting you like it was yesterday" she giggled and elbowed me softly in my side "What?" " Life was so different then" I agreed with her " Yeah, I mean it was fun running from Lovejoy and staying somewhat a secret from Cal and your mother" I laughed sighing thinking about Titanic "That's not what I mean" I turned to her confused" Huh? I need you to elaborate on that" "I mean I'm free, I can do stuff without a mans approval, or my mother telling me I can't, I married you because I love you and choosed, I was forced to marry Cal for his money" I sat there listening to her now I understand what she was talking about" I mean sure it was nice not having to worry about when my next will be, but we're stable now, and we were doing okay even after the sinking because we had Ellie" "Yeah now I know what you meant. I mean it's a good thing though, that everything is different. If Titanic never would've sank a lot more people would've died anyways" She went to look at me but I put a finger up to stop her so I could explain" Titanic was basically a sailing safety hazard. I mean there weren't even enough lifeboats on board for half of the people. They let her sail even after there was a coal fire that weakened the metal where the iceberg hit. They canceled the lifeboat drill for church the morning the iceberg hit. There were just so many things wrong and overlooked that when it sank and we lost that many people, it made everyone wake up and make proper safety prosecutions" She looked at me and then out the window "Yeah I guess you're right, I never realized that before. It's sad how they put money over the safety of people though." "Yeah it is, but that's just how business men work they only think about money and having the better things" " Well all I need is you and Adrien" She smiled at me and I smiled back after she said that" " Lets go on a walk to the park with Ellie and her family, tell Adrien to get ready" I said getting up walking over to the kitchen and started packing things needed for a picnic " I'm going to call her" I went over to the phone and dialed her number "This is Ellie speaking how may I help you?" "Hey Ellie its Jack, Rose and I were going on a picnic with Adrien and were wondering if you wanted to come with" "Yeah sure, we'll bring drinks if you guys got the food" "Yeah of course, we'll be leaving in a few minutes so meet us at the park in like 10 minutes" "Works for us" "Alrighty see you then""Goodbye" I hung up and grabbed the basket, Rose was behind me with the blanket and Adrien had his little sketch book filled with drawings of Titanic and other ships. I grabbed Roses hand and we walked out the door and the three of us walked down to the park, Ellie and John and their daughter Lizzie were already there as they lived closer "Uncle Jack!" 10 year old Lizzie ran up to me hugging me"Hey kiddo" Lets enjoy the tasty food Auntie Rose made" I smiled as Rose laid the blanket down and we all huddled together as a family, Adriean showed off his drawings and Lizzie helped him draw Titanic, we ate our lunch, joked, talked, laughed, ate snacks and drinks. It's the perfect ending to the perfect love story.
