real life;
tyla

it was the next morning when tyla woke up, a buzzing head but still well aware of what happened last night. if she had ever thought that it would make things easier to get over her, she clearly had been proven wrong.

the bedside next to her was empty, clothes on the floor had been folded neatly and one suitcase was missing.
she felt like a fool, lying in bedsheets trying to savor the last bit of smell that was left from her.

she dreaded going down to breakfast, where the rest of the wedding party was expecting her, ready to drill her with questions.
she couldn't just stay in bed until the very last second, could she?
disappointed started to settle in her stomach, and after all she felt exactly like she did four years ago.

real life;
tyla & gracie, 4 years ago

her fingers flew over the pianos keys so effortlessly, while she hummed silently along.
her guts were filled with happiness, with hopefulness for the first time in months.

the past couple of months were rocky, and the worst thing was that she knew from the start that it would come up eventually. from when they got together in high school it was always gracie's dream to become a singer, and she worked hard for it.
it brought benefits to their relationship, around five hundred nights spend at the piano tyla stopped counting. gracie made her fall in love with music.

she could hear gracie's key turn in the door down the hallway, and smiled.
"i knew i'd find you here," gracie smiled and sat down on the piano bench next to her.

"you know me too well." tyla laid her head on her shoulder, when gracie pressed a kiss on it.

"have you been writing?" gracie took the bunch of papers scattered with messy handwriting and flipped through them.
"i like your writing," she said, as she read through them.

"i mean i quite put time into it."

"gosh i love you so much." gracie peck her cheek before she decided to go full in and capture her girlfriends lips.

"you've got mail today," tyla said after breaking apart.

"from who?"

"college."

gracie's smile faltered immediately, knowing that this letter would not only decide whether she'd got into her dream school, but about her relationship of three years. her lifelong dream or her dream girl.

"you should open it," tyla said and squeezed her hand approvingly.

gracie nodded encouraged and got up to the kitchen already spotting the letter that laid on the surface.

"here goes nothing." she took a big breath and carefully opened the envelope.
it was only one word that stood out to her.

accepted.

"i'm in," gracie said stunned.

"what?"

"i'm in. they accepted me," she said with a much more steady voice.

"i'm so proud of you!" tyla said and hugged her tightly.

"i'm in, i'm really in!"

"yes you are, darling."

"i'm going to the other side of the country," gracie said with much more seriousness in her voice and realization.

"let's not think about that now. it's late, maybe we should head to bed, hm?"

"yes, of course."

while tyla continued on with the normal routine she followed every night, gracie's mind was like it was in a mist.
it was a hard decision of course, a decision she made a couple of years ago. when she promised herself that nothing would come between her and her dream.
but now there was this girl that was the most amazing human on earth. who was thoughtful and understanding, and supporting. who was standing in the crowd no matter how small or large it was, who cheered the loudest for her when she won her trophies. the one who made the hardest times a little easier.

she acted in thought, not realizing what was happening until she found herself facing her girlfriend.

"you know i love you, right? from the bottom of my heart," gracie almost whispered.

"of course i do. you do too, right? know that i love you more than anything."

gracie nodded immediately, because how could she not know how loved she was by the girl in front of her?

tyla smiled at her brightly for a while before her eyes got heavier by the second and finally gave in.
gracie kept looking at her for a while, and she didn't knew who it would crush more when she left.

because that was her final decision. leaving.

 leaving
