2 weeks later

Tracy and I have been grounded for the past two weeks, yet still haven't said a word to each other besides "bitch".

The principal called us into his office the next day and we both got separate detention rooms. Since I started it, my detention lasted 2 weeks and hers only lasted four days.

My mom found out about Hunter and I breaking up by Tracy, and she asked me what happened. I just told her we decided to mutually end it because we didn't have feelings for each other much longer. Which is a huge ass lie.

"Damn, I really liked you two together." She sighed and rubbed her hand across her face. "He treated you very nicely, honey."

Not in the end, mom, not in the end.

Friday
2:10 pm

The school bell rings, indicating that class is over. Thank god, I can't take another day of these disgusted stares everyone keeps giving me. They all act like I've killed someone, yet I don't get what the big deal is that I kissed Jack. I'm guessing it's because they think I'm just another girl who left their boyfriend for him.

"Where are we going tonight?" I ask Jack as I enter his car in the student parking lot. We planned to hang out today after school, but I don't know what it is we're going to do.

"Sammy's, he's having a bunch of people over today." He smiles and my heart drops. Him and the boys are still friends while they act like I don't exist. "What's wrong?" His smile drops and he puts the car back into 'park'.

"Nothing, it's just," I pause and fiddle with my fingers in my lap, "they don't really talk to me anymore."

"Do you just want to go to my house?"

"No, that's okay. I have to talk to them sometime, right?" I lean back in my seat and let out a forced chuckle.

"Are you sure?" He asks, slowly driving away from the school.

"Yeah."

I know I'm going to regret this.

"Okay." He flashes me a smile and grabs my hand in his. "I'm sorry everything turned out like this." His thumb runs over my skin, calming me down a little.

"It's fine, I think everything happens for a reason."

"And why do you think this was supposed to happen?"

I shrug my shoulders and look out the window, "I guess we'll find out when it blows over."

Sammy's House

Jack doesn't let go of my hand as we walk up the porch to Sam's front door.

"Are you sure you don't want to leave? I don't want you to be uncomfortable, babe." He squeezes my hand, and my heart flutters when he calls me babe.

"I'm sure." I say and peck his lips before ringing the doorbell.

Jack and I discussed "dating", but both of us agreed that there doesn't have to be a label to be loyal to someone. Although a small part of me wishes we were dating.

"Yo man, what's up?" Sammy hollers as soon as he opens the door.

"Hey, bro." Jack and him bump fists, and he invites us in.

He completely ignored me and acted as if I wasn't even there. Just like he does in P.E..

Jack gives me a sympathetic look and pulls me inside the warm house.
