Lunch
Walking into the cafeteria, I knew everyone was staring at me and whispering about what I had done. Again. They shouldn't be, but they are. In all honesty, I'm embarrassed and shocked that anyone even found out. I knew Jack told someone because nobody else was in that room with us and I locked the door.
But why would he tell someone? Why?
"Thank you." I murmur to the lunch lady as I leave the lunch line and venture to my table; where Hunter - nor Stella - no longer sit.
"Hey, Mar." Sammy smiles.
"Hey, Sam." I weakly smile back and sit down in my seat across from him.
"We kicked Gena and Danny's asses today in volleyball." He brags and Johnson chuckles.
"Because they suck."
"So true." He shakes his head.
I avert my attention from Sammy to the lunch room, looking for Jack.
"Oh, Jack's not here today." Johnson chimes in and my eyebrows scrunch together.
"I wasn't-" I stop as soon as Johnson gives me a look, indicating that he can see right through me, "Where is he then?"
"At home, he didn't feel like coming to school today."
"Why not?"
"He's just having one of those days where he didn't want to get up early and drive to school."
"None of us do." I sigh and jingle my keys that are in my hand since I had to get my jacket from my car before lunch.
"I had to drive Johnson to school today." Sam says with a mouthful of food.
"Why?"
"I'm getting my car painted." Johnson says proudly and I snicker as his happiness.
"How come?"
"Because I didn't like the tan color, and I saved up all of the money for it."
"How much is it to get it all painted?"
"Somewhere up in the high thousands, the guy gave me a price range of five-thousand to eight-thousand."
"Jesus," I mumble and thane a bite of my plastic-looking Mac and cheese, "What color?"
"Black." He states and Sam and I both nod approvingly.
"Mine's silver." I comment.
(my car is actually silver lol so hey what's up hello)
"Blue." Sammy gets up and throws his tray into the garbage next to the table. I do the same and toss it in, almost throwing my keys away in the process. "You guys want to chill outside?"
"Sure." Johnson shrugs as he slings his backpack over his shoulder. I follow the boys out the cafeteria doors and into the courtyard, where I spot Stella and Hunter eating with each other by the parking lot. Gross.
