One week later (June)
10:30 am

"Marina! Your letter came!" My mom shouts from the main floor and my eye brows pull together in confusion.

My letter? What let-

holy shit.

I almost fall face first as I hurry of off my bed and down the slippery stairs.

"From UO?" (University of Oregon)

(I picked that one because I'm from Oregon and I know this place the best)

"Yes!" She smiles and I snatch the thick letter from her hand.

"It's thick, mom!"

"I know! Open it!" She grins and jumps up and down like I do.

I breathe in and out, trying to calm my self down and silently pray this is an acceptance letter.

The ripping sound runs through my ears as I tear off the top, seeing a bunch of papers on the inside.

"Mom." I say excitedly and slowly pull out the first piece of paper in the stack.

"Read it!" She grabs the rest of the envelope from my hands while I unfold the small piece of paper.

"Dear Marina Bright,

Congratulations! We are happy to announce that you have been accepted to attend school on our campus starting this fall."

I stop reading there and jump up and down before hugging my mom really tight.

"I can't believe it!" I screech and read it over again.

"I'm so proud of you, oh my goodness!" She slides out the rest of the papers and looks at the package I need to fill out for classes and stuff.

"Oh my God, I'm so happy." I hug the acceptance letter to my chest and hop around the room.

(this is what I would do, sooo)

"Why are you being so damn loud at ten in the morning?" Tracy asks as she cascades down the stairs in her pajamas.

"She got accepted into UO!" My mom says proudly and Tracy scrunches her eyebrows together.

"That doesn't mean you need to be so loud."

"Shut up, at least I'm going to college." I roll my eyes and look through the envelope.

"I will go to college." She argues and I almost laugh.

"You literally told me a few weeks ago that you weren't."

"No I didn't!"

"'I'm not wasting four more years of my life in school right after I get out of one.'" I mock her voice and she glares at me.
