"Next up is Akira Heiwajima and Tetsuhara," Aozora said, trying to speed up the matches so that they wouldn't have to be continued the next day, disrupting the flow.
A boy with mostly black hair and white chunks walked to the middle of the gym. His costume looked almost exactly like his sisters, but with black pants and a white jacket. He shared the boots, shades, and green accent on the jacket hem. Even though their costumes looked almost identical, the green shades on him had better technological components. The shades had night vision, a zooming mechanic that allowed him to see up to three kilometers away, and an ear piece for communications while on the job. His sister, Yumiko, only had the zooming mechanic on hers. The other boy, Tetsuhara, walked into the middle of the gym as well. He had short lavender hair, red eyes that were tired, and a long, thin body that yearned for natural light. His hero costume was a holographic jacket that was boxy and fit loosely, a black shirt with a green tech pattern, baggy black pants, and slides.
"Begin!"
Akira adjusted his shades, the lenses glinting as they synced with all of the technological components inside. With a deep breath, he focused on a spot behind Tetsuhara, his vision zooming in and marking the exact location he planned to teleport to.
In a split second, Akira vanished, reappearing precisely where he intended, right behind Tetsuhara. He aimed a swift punch at Tetsuhara's back and landed it right in the center, sending him falling to the ground.
"Nice trick," Tetsuhara coughed, "But you rely too much on that support item."
Akira narrowed his eyes, but before he could teleport again, Tetsuhara raised his hand, fingers splayed wide. The air around them seemed to hum as he tapped into his power, reaching out to the technology embedded in Akira's shades.
Suddenly, Akira felt a jolt in his head. The shades sides that had the communication devices had transformed and now went all the way around his head and locked onto his face with a mechanical whirr, the lenses blurring and flickering with distorted images and static. He tried to pull them off, but they wouldn’t budge. Panic set in as his vision became a swirling chaos of colors and static, almost completely blinding him.
"What did you do?!" Akira shouted, stumbling back, his sense of direction thrown off.
"Broke your fancy shades," Tetsuhara said, his voice monotone and face unchanging in expression.
Akira swung wildly, trying to teleport away, but his disorientation caused him to misjudge the distance, appearing several feet away from Tetsuhara.
"I kinda want to get back to my game now," He said mainly to himself. He held out his hand again and used his quirk on the shades, invading the technology used to make them work and sending all power from them into one spot on his classmates head. The electrical current that had shot into him made him collapse to the floor, knocked out. Walking over to where Akira had landed, he stared blankly at his motionless body. "Hey, the match is over. Get up." Akira let out a low groan, his consciousness slowly returning. "I said, get up," He repeated, this time kicking him, causing him to jump up from the sudden pain.
"Dude, what the hell?! That fucking hurt!" Akira snapped.
"The match is over. You lost," He replied, the match being over being more of a priority than his classmate being in pain. The two then rejoined the class.
"Good job, Tetsuhara. It was smart of you to go for the support item and relying on your quirk instead of your body. Try to be quicker, though, and immediately use your quirk rather than hesitating," Aozora said.
"'Kay," Tetsuhara replied, already playing his video game again.
"Heiwajima, you got a solid first hit on Tetsuhara and would have won if you hadn't relied solely on your support item. Also, consider who you're up against," Aozora said.
