Nature Apocalypse

Chapter 1

Girl’s P.O.V.
Silence that’s the first thing I remember. It was cold and dark, and I was in a closet. I stood up, opened the door, and stepped out as my feet landed on the hard wooded floor.

I looked around frantically, with fear in my eyes as I saw the place was destroyed. There was a big gaping hole where the window used to be. It is covered in vines. I walked up to it, I looked outside, and I see the moon it was so big and bright it seemed to chase the darkness away and when it did, I wasn’t afraid anymore, instead I smiled weakly at the moon. I looked back and saw there was a pillow and some feathers. I guess there used to be a bed there.

I walk around, allowing my eyes to adjust to my surroundings, and I see a mirror. I walk up to the mirror, and I see a girl staring back at me, she had wavey mid length ebony blue hair with bangs, her hair is in a high ponytail, she had light tan skin, freckles, ocean blue eyes. She had few scars over her body, she was wearing clothes with rips on them, a t-shirt with a tree on it and words above the tree saying, “the paths we choose are like tree branches, some with dead ends and some with finish lines”. The girl had brown jean pants on with a brown bag over her body and blue sneakers. I kept looking at this girl, she seemed familiar, then I realized that this girl I was looking at was. Me, at first, I was shocked, but it made sense after a while. who I was that I didn’t know and what I was meant to do while I was here, part of me wondered if I’ll ever know? I then felt something in my brown jeans, I put my hand in my pocket and found a piece of paper folded so I unfolded it and saw there were words, so I decide to read it aloud to myself.

“To me if I forget anything.

“My name is Hailey Smirk, and I am 14 and a half years old. My birthday is on December 30th, and I was born in 1998. You need to remember this, about 2 weeks ago, nature and animals started to take over the world. I do not know why, but I guess they decided to take over the world because they have had enough of being treated badly. Oh, your sister, brother, your siblings' friends, your friend David, and Siena disappeared about 4 days ago, your dad thinks they were captured by nature and thinks they are being kept captive, and since that happened our dad has made sure that you/I did not leave the house. And I think Lucas, Tilly, and Sam are still alive and are ok because, as far as we know, they weren’t captured. Lucas and Sam live two houses apart and across the street from you, whereas Tilly lives six houses down from you. You need to find out if they survived the fire so you can team up and figure out how to defeat this “Nature Apocalypse”. About 11 days ago, your brother and you figured out that nature was being controlled by someone. So, you need to figure out who they are, why they are doing this and how to stop them and safe everyone, oh and by the way there is a black cat named Rain in your bag.”

At first, my brain was shocked as I tried to process what I just read. I hear a sound from my bag, which rips me from my thoughts. I look down to see a black tom cat with yellow eyes. Come out of my bag with the name “Rain” on a sliver collar, I smile at the cat as it leaps onto my shoulder and sits there. Then, this idea comes to my head. I grab out a book, put the letter to myself inside, and turn the page. I grab a pencil from my bag and start writing “information on nature and how to defeat them,” then I put the book and pencil back into the bag.

“If Lucas and Sam are alive and they live across the road from me, I should go and check if they are ok because this letter, I wrote to myself says they will be able help,” I say to Rain.

Rain just nods at me as I walk downstairs, I see a dead body of someone. They are a male who has short ebony blue hair, freckles, tan skin, a blue shirt, and black jeans. He is lying in a pool of blood, which makes my body shiver, I am guessing he is my dad. As he is lying dead in the kitchen near the front door, my brain starts to feel dizzy, as some memories start to flood back to me, with me and my dad in them. Tears roll down my eyes as I stare at my father. I open the door and walk outside, I turn and see the town I live in, which is destroyed with holes, rips, fire everywhere, and buildings covered in what look like vines.

“Well, let the adventure begin,” I say to Rain as we walk on to the road to where my friend’s houses were not knowing what lay ahead of us.

As I am walking to my friend’s houses looking around at the place. Suddenly, my heart dropped, and I stopped dead in my tracks. As I got closer to the houses, the left house had the door left open. I started to get worried and feel my heartbeat quicken, I could even feel Rain’s back arched as he hissed. I run up to left house to check it out first, I walk up to the door slowly, but I soon realize that the door looks as if it has been smashed open, the house looked worse than mine. There was still fire around the place, it was almost completely destroyed, there were holes and vines everywhere. As I walk in, the place was filled with ash around it, as I kept walking, I saw two adult bodies, one male with messy brown hair, light skin, red shirt and blue shorts. There was also a female with blonde hair, light skin, a red dress, and black leggings. They were lying on the ground holding hands. I guessed they were my friend’s parents. I ran over to them and crouched down to them to see if they were still breathing, but sadly, there was no sign of breathing, I sighed sadly. But in doing so, I saw a long thick vine leading to the back of the house where there was a staircase between the washing room and the kitchen. Rain started to hiss and shook his head, but the vine seemed to be going up the stairs, I knew I had to save my friend, so I started climbing the stairs.
