Without a word, Fathima Amma reached into a bag by her side and pulled out a beautiful saree. The fabric was like the night sky, the stars embroidered on it seeming to twinkle under the light. It was as beautiful as it was unexpected as there was A nuptial Chain and Vermilion besides it in plate as well.

Aaria’s eyes widened, her breath catching as she took in the sight. It was extravagant, far more than anything she had ever owned.

“Fathima Amma...it’s beautiful...but I-I cannot accept-

Fathima Amma patted her hand affectionately.

“It’s not a gift, Aaria. It's a symbol of the new life ahead of you. A marriage may start in unusual ways, but it can still become a beautiful... Saree Looks good on newly wed and this Nuptial chain And vermilion is the symbol of you being married... it’s Important.”

Aaria swallowed, her throat suddenly dry. as She remembered how Reena also used to love Saree and all this...But it felt wrong, like a symbol of a life she never chose.

“But...I’m not worthy...”

Fathima Amma's frowned, her tone firmer.

“Aaria, listen to me. You are worthy. Every woman who becomes a wife is worthy. No matter the circumstances of her marriage. This saree, this nuptial chain, this vermilion... they’re not about worth, they're about acceptance. Accepting the life you have now, embracing it with all its complexities and contradictions.”

Aaria looked at her for a long moment, the words sinking in, her heart heavy with the weight of her new reality.

She looked down at the beautiful nuptial chain. For a moment, a surge of defiance rose within her, a desire to reject everything...but somewhere deep inside, she knew Fathima Amma was right. She took a shaky breath and nodded.

Fathima Amma smiled, seeing the silent acceptance in Aaria’s eyes. She helped her put on the nuptial chain, and then handed her the vermilion.

“Now put this on your forehead. It will make it more official and traditional.”

Aaria, her hand trembling, took the vermilion and applied it on her forehead. It felt like a mark, a brand that shouted to the world that she was no longer single, that she was bound to someone in ways she never expected.

Fathima Amma then took the saree and helped to draped it around Aaria, her hands skilled and gentle.

The silky fabric whispered against Aaria’s skin, the weight of it reminding her of her new duties, new responsibilities.
