After getting some supplies they need, they return to the beach. Lilith's brain seems to be in a haze. She can't believe that Silas isn't here.
"Besides those two tributes that were with One, who's left?" Katniss asks.
"Maybe Chaff," Peeta shrugs. "Just those three."
"They know they're outnumbered. I doubt they'll attack again," Finnick says.
"Unless they're idiots," Lilith comments.
Everyone seems to ignore her comment, except she can feel Finnick's eyes on her.
"We're safe here on the beach, like Lilith suggested earlier," Finnick says.
There's a second of silence before Johanna speaks.
"So, what do we do? We hunt them down?"
No one has a chance to agree or disagree with Johanna, before a blood curdling scream comes from within the jungle.
"Prim!" Katniss begins screaming as she takes off into the jungle.
"Katniss! Katniss, wait!" Finnick yells, immediately going to after her.
Deep into the jungle, Finnick finds Katniss.
"You okay?" He asks her.
Suddenly, more screams fill the air. This time, they catch Finnick's attention.
"Lilith?" He runs towards the screams.
"Finnick! Wait!" Katniss calls after him.
His mind is racing. He was just with her, what could have happened in such a short amount of time?
"Lilith! Lilith!" He yells once more.
"Finnick! It's not her," Katniss says as she catches up to him. "It's just a jabberjay. It's not her."
"What?" Finnick says. He's so confused.
More jabberjays fly down and scream. So many screams, from so many people.
"Come on, let's go," Katniss says, beginning to run back the way they came.
Lilith begins to see Finnick and Katniss running closer to the force field.
"Finnick, stop!" Lilith yells, warning him about the force field. He doesn't seem to hear her, so he runs full force into the invisible wall.
Finnick looks frantic. He sees Lilith alive and okay in front of him, but he hears her tortured screams.
"Finnick, it's not real!" Lilith yells. "It's okay! It's not real!"
Lilith keeps close to the force field, wanting to comfort Finnick in anyway she can. She hates that he's over there, suffering, and there's nothing she can do to stop it.
After the hour is up, Lilith can finally get closer to Finnick.
"Finnick?" Lilith says carefully.
He looks like a zombie. He's staring off into space, then snaps out of it. He looks at Lilith.
"Are you okay?" Lilith questions.
Finnick wraps his arms around Lilith, holding her closer for a second.
"I'm fine," Finnick mumbles into her shoulder.
Johanna checks on Finnick, placing a hand on his back to comfort him. She gives Lilith a look of worry, a look that conveys her want to help. Lilith shakes her head, knowing there's nothing anyone can say or do.
Johanna walks away, and turns her attention to Katniss. Finnick pulls away slowly. Lilith doesn't fully believe he's okay, but she figures that he doesn't want to talk about it at all.
"They won't touch Prim," Peeta assures Katniss.
"Your fiancé's right. The whole country loves your sister. If they tortured her, or did anything to her," Johanna scoffs mid sentence. "Forget the districts, there would be riots in the damn Capitol."
Lilith sees Katniss's horrified face at the thought of riots in the Capitol. Lilith actually likes the idea of that. Payback for everything they did to her.
"Hey, how does that sound, Snow? What if we- What if we set your backyard on fire? You know, you can't put everybody in here!" Johanna yells loudly at the sky.
Lilith watches her friend with a sympathetic gaze. She places her hand on Finnick's shoulder, rubbing it comfortingly. Everyone else looks at Johanna with worried expressions because of what she just said.
"What? They can't hurt me. There's no one left that I love," Johanna says with a shrug of her shoulders.
Lilith knows what happened to Johanna's family. She refused to be sold by Snow, and the people she loved paid the price for it.
"I'll get you some water," Johanna mumbles before walking away.
Lilith helps Finnick make his way back to the beach. They walk all the way to the water. Finnick slumps down into the soft waves, Lilith following suit. Finnick sits there with his eyes shut, clearly envisioning different surroundings.
"Close your eyes," Finnick mumbles to Lilith. She softly smiles and closes her eyes. "If you try hard enough, you can imagine yourself in Four."
Lilith sighs contently and imagines herself sitting with Finnick on the shores of Four. The salty air blowing in her face. The sound of seagulls squawking and flying around.
"I can picture it. Watching the sunset on the beach. Side by side," Lilith says quietly.
"It's nice, right?" Finnick chuckles softly.
Lilith opens her eyes and looks at Finnick, who opens his own eyes.
"Take me there?" Lilith asks.
"I will. I promise," Finnick says with determination.
"I have a plan!" Beetee announces.
Johanna gets up and walks a bit closer to Lilith and Finnick.
"Finnick! Lilith!" She yells, getting their attention.
Lilith turns her head toward Johanna, and stands up. She reaches a hand down to Finnick, he takes it and stands up. They head over to see what Beetee's awesome plan is.
