When his gaze redirected to Blaine, his features hardened instantly. The fury was evident. And now I'm feeling nervous 'cause I could feel the tension that's there.

Blaine suddenly let out a loud growl, which snapped my attention. "Bullshit!" He swerved, taking another turn so sharply that the car almost tipped over. "If he thinks he can save you, he's wrong!"

I didn't respond, but deep in my heart, I knew he was wrong. He's a fool even to think Courtney was incapable of saving me.

Blaine suddenly veered into an abandoned warehouse district, the crumbling buildings providing cover. I looked outside, and Courtney was following us, tires screeching as it fishtailed around the corner. He leaned out of the window, gun in hand, while his left hand held the wheel firmly. The following thing was when he fired shots through the windows beside Blaine, causing them to shatter loudly, and the bullets raked across the front windshield. That caused me to jerk back into the seat, covering my ears as the gunshots ricocheted, creating a horrible ringing noise in my skull. Courtney would never let those bullets reach me. I've seen that he's adept with guns and different weapons.

After a few minutes, another gunshot rang, and Blaine cursed under his breath, shifting his attention to the rearview mirror to watch for pursuers.

My breath caught in my throat when I looked back, and there were two cars following us from behind. They're one of Courtney's associates.

"Don't try to escape, Adeleine. You can't run from me. I'll find you no matter where you hide!" He threatened me.

I ignored his threat. After a few minutes, the rain started pouring down. And now, my focus was on the rearview mirror. I finally caught Courtney, and his black Mustang was gaining on us, its headlights piercing through the rain.
Suddenly, the car jolted as bullets from outside tore through the back window.

"Just stop the car, Blaine!" I screamed, ducking instinctively. "Why don't you just set me free? Why don't you just—"

Before I could finish, Blaine pulled a gun from his coat pocket and pointed it at me. "Shut the fuck your mouth if you don't want me to shoot you!" He hissed venomously, making me shrink further against the seat. "Just because he's here doesn't mean you're safe forever, Adeleine. You're still my wife. So don't ever think he can change your life!"

I ignored his words again, hoping negativity didn't fester inside. I just watched him in complete distress, driving so fast. His face contorted with rage as he leaned out the window, firing back at Courtney's men. The sound of gunfire echoed around me, drowning out the sound of my beating heart. Blaine swerved, narrowly avoiding a collision with a lamppost until we turned a corner, finally stopping after some minutes.

I was stunned when the door beside me opened, revealing Chris with a gun in his hand. He quickly grabbed me before shoving me forward and away from the car.

"Let me go!" I squealed, trying to get out of his grip. But Chris only yanked me tighter. "Please... stop!"

His hands are like steel pliers, crushing the fabric of my dress and holding onto me, forcing me to stumble along behind him as we make our way toward his car.

"I told you to behave, but you're not listening!" He shoved me into the passenger seat. "You'll be staying right there until this ends!"

I was about to speak, but then he grabbed the duct tape and slapped it over my mouth. And now I'm entirely helpless. Chris quickly got into the driver's seat and sped off. Blaine and Courtney's men were behind us, driving in the same direction as us and firing. I watched them from the side of my eyes, fear pulsing through me in waves. I'm not sure what is happening outside.
