Arabella had centuries of love at her fingertips. Of course, there was love filled with betrayal, like Albus Dumbledore, and then love filled with anger and jealously, like Salazar Slytherin.
And you could say that Arabella had an awful habit in attracting all the wrong men, but that would not be the entire truth.
She had also known love in its purest form, the kind of affection that was gentle, patient, and unselfish. Men had worshipped her, adored her, showered her with all the devotion they could muster. But none of them had ever touched her the way Lawrence did.
Lawrence was a human. Unlike the wizards she had been entangled with, he possessed no magical power, no dark secrets, no hidden agenda. Lawrence was everything Albus and Salazar were not: kind-hearted, deeply caring, and utterly devoted.
From the moment they met, Lawrence had loved Arabella with an intensity that took her breath away. He worshipped the very ground she walked on, sacrificing everything for the chance to be with her. In his eyes, she was a goddess, and he was unworthy of her love. And in many ways, he was right.
Arabella tried to love him back. She truly did. She wanted to feel that same excitement, that flutter in her chest that true love was supposed to bring. But no matter how hard she tried, she could never quite reach that feeling.
It wasn't Lawrence's fault — he was perfect in every way. The fault, she realised, was within her. Arabella was a vampire, a creature with no heart, no soul. She was incapable of loving the way a human could.
Their love, however flawed, was doomed from the start. It could never work. Arabella was immortal, and Lawrence was not. She knew that one day, he would die, and she would be left to roam the planet all alone once again.
She tried to convince Lawrence to join her in immortality, to become a vampire and live forever by her side. But Lawrence, pure and innocent as he was, refused. He could not imagine a life where he had to feed on others to survive. He was too good, too human for that.
The day came when Lawrence could no longer ignore the passage of time. Lawrence had met Arabella when he was 17 and he and Arabella were only together for 9 years, but Lawrence was getting older and Arabella was still 18. Arabella had spent 9 years watching Lawrence age beside her and she could not bear it.
Lawrence's last wish was to avoid the pain of watching the love of his life remain unchanged as he grew older and older. He could not bear to a live another day where he aged and Arabella did not.
And so, Lawrence made a final request. He asked her to end his life, to spare him the pain of their inevitable separation. Arabella's chest shattered at his words, but she knew he was right. She had already caused him so much pain by existing in his world, by loving him in the only way she could. Now, she would have to give him the peace he deserved.
That night, Lawrence had died at the age of 26. Under a sky full of stars, Arabella held Lawrence in her arms. Her hands trembled as she whispered into his ear, her voice breaking. Tears streamed down her face.
