Lilith had a habit of showing up at the most inconvenient of times.
Arabella's ring, the only thing preventing her from frying under the sun's light, burned into her flesh. The pain was the warning she dreaded — it meant she was needed. Lilith was calling.
Arabella sighed, her expression grim as she opened draws of her dresser. Killing or not, one had to dress appropriately when visiting the devil. And Arabella never dressed anything less than appropriate.
The outfit she chose was practical yet elegant. A tailored burgundy dress that stopped just above her knees with thick straps, revealing her pale shoulders. It was a bit scandalous. Her nails, sharp and painted a deep crimson, were polished to perfection. The perfume she dabbed was subtle and haunting — jasmine and smoke. She swept her glossy black hair into soft waves and painted her lips a blood-red.
Arabella was always prepared to kill.
The castle was waking up as she slipped out. Students excitedly ran to the Great Hall for breakfast, the air filled with the aroma of toast and pumpkin juice. She moved unseen, her heels clicking softly against the stone floors as she stepped into the cold morning air.
The only way to communicate with Lilith was to die and be sent to the temporary Hell. And the only way to be sent there was to be dead.
Arabella headed far from Hogwarts.
It would be rather strange if a student stumbled across her body while she was with Lilith.
The Forbidden Forest was too obvious, too risky. Instead, she apparated to a secluded beach beyond the castle grounds, a place far from human life. Here, her body would remain hidden while she crossed.
She stared at the endless expanse of the ocean before her, the sunlight high. It didn't burn on her the way it would for a human. It didn't make her sweat or feel hot. It didn't even make her tan. That's why Arabella was pale.
It was hard to believe there was time where Arabella used to hide from the sun.
There was no hesitation. With her wand in hand, she whispered the Killing Curse. The green light flashed, and then—
Nothingness.

When Arabella opened her eyes, the beach she had died on still surrounded her, but the world was distorted. The sky was a burning red, the air filled with ash and heat. And the water — the water was blood. The gaping hole in her chest, where her heart used to be before she turned, felt deeper, more prominent, whenever she was here.
"Arabella," a sultry voice cooed. Lilith emerged from the ocean — the blood. She walked out dry, her long black hair flowing behind her, her crimson eyes gleaming. She was mesmerising. "You're late," she said, her smile razor-sharp.
Arabella got up from the ground, brushing off her dress, and glared at her. "What do you want?"
Lilith tilted her head, mockery dripping from her tone. "Still so feisty. You should be thanking me." Her eyes flashed, darkening. "But, no. You take everything for granted. I give you all this power and all I ask for are some souls. It's not a hard job, Bella. I could easily make it more difficult."
