Seth pushed his back against the cold wall and let himself fall on the ground. He took deep breaths, trying to fill his lungs. Maybe that would have helped with his glossy eyes. Tears threatened to fall but he couldn't let them, fuck no. He just needed to calm down a bit, just a bit, he was the god of war for fuck’s sake! Not a weak little crying bitch!
He didn't notice he had closed his eyes until a warm hand helped him get back to reality by caressing his cheek softly, he opened his eyes and a tear fell off his cheek.
-Want to talk about it?- Uffa said in a kind voice as she sat next to him. He pushed her hand away, he couldn't admit out loud that he wanted comfort.
-No, fuck off- he replied, trying to sound cold and angry. She nodded, but didn't move.
Many seconds filled with silence passed, not that he minded, just having someone by his side was a great help already.
-It’s about Nephthys?- she asked softly. He shook his head.
She thought for a little, then spoke again -Nut?-
He bit his bottom lip, he wanted to taste his own blood, more tears filled his eyes and he nodded.
-You don't cry often, what did she do?-
-She ignored me- he mumbled under his breath. Hearing it was like the confirmation of what happened and his heart broke again.
-She is here?- Uffa asked surprised.
-Yes- Seth said as he nodded slowly, eyes fixed on the ground.
-Well…she didn't come to greet me either- she said softly, it was a way to comfort him but it didn’t work.
-You are not her fucking child- he spat back angrily.
-I know, sorry- she whispered while she leaned in and let her shoulders touch his. The small touch was conforming.
Silence again, it tore him apart inside, but it was better than staying in silence alone.
-Stand up, I am showing you something- she said as she stood up and grabbed his arms to pull him up alongside her.
They walked for a while and got out of the temple, then they went to a little oasis not far away. She started to search for something near the bushes.
The little garden was a bright green spot in the desert, filled with trees and shrubs, some colorful flowers and with a small pond at the center.
Finally she found what she was searching for and crouched down, she picked something up and showed him: a small black cat.
-Do you want to name him?- she asked smiling, and gave him the kitten. As he held the little one in his arms he couldn't help but smile, in a way it reminded him of his son, Anubis. They were both babies and with big, curious eyes.
-Micio- he mumbled as he gently stroked the cat’s fur, the kitten leaned in his touch and he couldn't help but let out a chuckle. He looked up to ask Uffa if she saw that too but she was looking somewhere far away.
-Go, show him to Anubis, I’ll be right back- she said a bit coldly before walking off. It was unusual. Something was on her mind.
