hearing the explanation caused shinji and his group to grimace

"and you blame my counterpart, it seems you people need to take your own advice, grow the fuck up" i said, the group turned to shinji never having heard him curse before, it was proof of just how annoyed by the whole situation he was

"what do we do now" hikari asked

"well, this benefits us, if we put rei into the Mk.06 she may be able to gain control of these opfer series units and if we are really lucky, unit thirteen as well, that will at least temporarally solve this worlds immediate crisis, and we get four more EVAs into our arsenal" i said, i looked towards shikinami

"are there any active bases around, that we could make use of" i asked

"a base in paris, WILLE intends to raid it, once they leave it should be operational enough for use why" shikinami asked

"because yours will be EVA number five, it is our payment for doing all this work to help you, now could any of you direct us to paris" i asked, hikari raised her hand

"i could" she said

"good you will ride with me, for now, toji you'll pilot the Mk.06 as planned, and will carry shikinami and her unit, soryu you and i will carry the spears, rei you will pilot my unit-01, i'm gonna get inside this worlds unit and see if it will respond to me while my counterpart is still in it, if not, toji you'll be carrying that too, it will leave the rest of us ready to deal with any threats that arise" i said they nodded, they were all glad that shinji seemed to fill into the role of leader so seamlessly

"are we all agreed" i asked, they nodded

"right let's get going" i said, the group loaded onto their respective EVAs, fortunately this worlds unit-01 responded to shinji enough to get moving

they travelled for weeks, fortunately the EVAs kept them going, shikinami told us that she had since their defection from NERV and she called it the curse of the EVAs the rest of us currently saw it as a blessing and less of a curse

"commander" rei said

"what is it rei" i asked

"activity, in the city" she said

"i don't like being out in the open can you determine where the base is" i asked

"affirmative" she said

"then we make a beeline for it, how many EVAs does WILLE have" she asked

"currently one, since mine is in the state it's in" she said

"i like three V one odds" i said

"shinji there are four of us" toji said

"but you have next to no experience piloting an EVA, in combat rei will be taking over the Mk.06 at least for now, and i will be retaking my unit" i said, toji wanted to protest but didn't

"right we run for the base, stop for nothing except to help each other understood" i asked

"right" the group said at once

"go" i ordered and all the evangelions started running for the facility

once in we sealed the place, we had no real difficulties getting inside, no one would ever have foreseen four evangelions making a beeline for it

"let no one in, rei your on guard duty" i said

"understood" rei said

"why rei" soryu asked insulted

"because i know for a fact rei will follow the order i just gave, you soryu will talk to them, and if you like what they here, you may even betray us for them, and considering the collar around your counterparts neck i do not like my odds one bit, that their first target will be me, so i'm gonna make something clear to the group now, you all chose to come with me, i am not going to be used by anyone else not after my own father almost had me destroy the world, i will fight back, with unit-01 if i must, are we clear" i said, the group gave uneasy nods

"i'd do the same for any of you, i'd rush to your rescue and crush any that would come to harm you" i said, that eased tensions drastically

"and anyway soryu, you have the best chance of understanding and helping us make use of the things in this base, plus what is being held in my EVAs core, i need you to see if the five of us can get this base working and if we can't repair the second unit-02 here, whom i who double unit-02R" i said

"what does the R stand for" hikari asked

"rebuild, for obvious reasons" i said gesturing to the corpse of that the unit-02R is currently in

"shikinami, we will let you out to be collected by them if you wish" i said

"i think i should, they should know about your intentions" she said

"rei" i said

"understood" she replied, as soon as the others disembarked their units with me as the exception i stood guard in rei's place, rei took shikinami out to the team that was on the ground and carefully deposited them, before turning on her heel and walking back to the base
