"One glance was all it took for my world to shift,
she was the calm in my storm, the light I never saw coming."

Hashim's POV:

I woke up to an empty room, letting out a shaky breath as I sat up in bed. I reached for my phone to check the time .It was just before Tahajjud. Needing the solace of prayer, I did my ablution and began offering my Salah. The act brought some relief, but it wasn't enough to quiet the storm inside me. I decided a run around the Baig estate might help clear my mind.

As I ran, thoughts of Amha invaded my mind once more, dragging me back into the same cycle of confusion and frustration. Unable to focus on running any longer, I cut the session short and headed back to the mansion. As I approached, I heard voices—Ammi was awake, giving instructions to the maids.

I was about to slip past when her voice halted me in my tracks.

"Hashim, aaj tumhe Meher ke saath designer ke paas jana hai," she said, her tone brooking no argument. I scoffed quietly to myself, not wanting anyone to notice my lack of enthusiasm for the wedding.

"I have an important meeting with foreign clients today, Ammi. I can't possibly go with her. Aap log chale jayein uski dress dekhne, main manage kar lunga," I replied, making an excuse to avoid the appointment. Why was it so difficult to lie? The deep gulps I took every time I did made it painfully obvious.

She looked at me for a moment, her eyes searching my face, but she said nothing. With a slight nod, she turned toward the kitchen, likely to make tea for everyone. I headed back to my room, feeling a strange mix of guilt and relief. After a long shower, I dressed in my usual style: a crisp white shirt, black pants, and a matching blazer.

When I finally went downstairs for breakfast, the whole family was already gathered, including the usual suspects—those crackheads who never miss a meal. But what made me stop in my tracks was the look on Haider's face. Unlike his usual chaotic self, he seemed unusually today . Maybe it was because I told him to start working in the office today.

I took my seat as Choti Ammi served me breakfast, handing me a cup of tea. I like my tea just right, with the perfect amount of sugar. Did I mention I'm addicted to tea? No? Well, I am. Just as I was about to take a sip, Baba's next words made my irritation spike.

"Do hafte mein shaadi hai aur kisi ne wedding planners se baat ki bhi hai ya nahi?" Baba asked, his gaze settling on Haider, as if expecting him to have all the answers.

"Ji, Taya Babu, maine baat ki hai. Aaj shaam mein event planners aayenge," Haider replied, much to my surprise. So, he was in charge of my wedding arrangements now.

"Toh phir main Hammad aur Meher ko call karke bol deti hoon ke shaam mein yahan aane ke liye," Riza said, and everyone nodded in agreement. She happily walked away to make the calls.

I stood up from my chair, straightening my suit jacket before walking over to Dadi. I bent down to kiss the back of her hand.

"If you're done, then get up and come with me," I said to Haider as I headed toward the parking lot. A few minutes later, Haider joined me in the passenger seat.

"You didn't tell me you were arranging a wedding planner," I said, glancing at him as I reversed the car and drove through the estate gates.

"I came to see you last night when Meher brought your dinner. I thought I'd discuss it with both of you, but then I saw Meher coming out, crying," he said, his tone changing slightly when he mentioned Meher. I noticed the shift immediately, watching as he looked out the window, avoiding my gaze.

"Aren't you having a little more soft corner for Meher these days?" I couldn't help but ask, keeping my tone light but curious.

"She's your to-be wife, Bhai, and soon-to-be Baig's daughter-in-law... and my bhabhi (sister-in-law). Isn't it natural to have a soft spot for her?" he replied, stuttering slightly. There was something off about him lately, especially since the family had announced my wedding.

As we approached the office, we noticed a commotion just before the opposite side of road .Both of us quickly got out of the car and ran toward the crowd. There, we saw a woman sitting on a bench, looking utterly exhausted.

I knelt beside her, my jaw clenching at the sight of her condition. She wasn't that old, but her poor health made her appear much older than she was.

"Why aren't any of you helping her?" I shouted at the onlookers, who were standing around as if this were some kind of spectacle. Haider placed a hand on my shoulder, drawing my attention.

"Bhai, let's take her to the hospital. She doesn't look well," Haider suggested, his voice calm but urgent. We both helped her to the car, and I chose to drive while Haider sat beside her.

At the hospital, we called for a stretcher, and the staff quickly took her inside for examination, telling us to wait outside. We sat on a bench in the corridor. I remained calm, but Haider's constant leg shaking was starting to get on my nerves.

"Could you stop shaking your leg?" I growled under my breath. He stopped immediately, looking at me apologetically. Just then, a nurse came out, asking about the patient's family.

I recognized the woman from Iqbal Haveli but wasn't sure of her exact relation to the family. I needed to call Zain; only he could help me figure out who she was.

"We found her on the street, so I don't know her family. But I have a friend who might know her. Could you tell me what's wrong with her? Is there anything serious?" I asked the nurse, trying to hide my growing concern.

"Just call her family. We'll only discuss her condition with them," she said curtly before walking away. I let out a frustrated sigh. I was about to call Zain when my phone buzzed with an incoming call. It was my PA.

"Sir, the clients have arrived. When are you coming?" she asked, her tone anxious. I was on the verge of snapping at her but held back.

"I'm dealing with something important right now. Tell them I won't be able to make it. We'll reschedule the meeting," I replied, trying to keep my irritation in check.

"But sir, they've come from far just for this meeting," she protested.

"They want to do business with us; I didn't go to them to invest in our project. I have more pressing matters to attend to, Maria. I hope you understand," I said firmly before hanging up and dialing Zain's number.

"Come on, man, pick up. This is urgent," I muttered as the phone rang. After a few rings, he finally answered.

"Hey, what's up? I saw a bunch of missed calls. Is everything okay?"

"No, nothing's okay. Get to City Hospital as fast as you can," I said, my voice tense.

"What happened? Are you alright?" Zain asked, sounding concerned.

"I'm fine, but there's this lady I found on the roadside near the office. I think she's related to you. I saw her at your party last time. Get here quickly," I explained.

"Alright, I'll be there in five minutes," he replied before hanging up.

I leaned against the wall, trying to calm my nerves. Ten minutes later, I saw Zain approaching with a fast pace, and behind him was a woman in an off-white dress. I couldn't see her clearly from where I stood, cause of Zain's towering figure making her hide behind him ,but as they got closer, my breath hitched. She was literally looking like a hoor, mine hoor and the worried look on her face is undescribable .Her presence alone made my heart race.

In that moment, I knew this woman was going to be the death of me.
