I click through the pictures of one of the townhouses that are for sale on my laptop, lounging on the couch. I've been sitting here for the better part of an hour, waiting for Cal to get home from work. I ran errands earlier today, got groceries and some other things I thought would make the living area a bit nicer and a little more colorful. The past few weeks I've been sneaking in throw pillows and other small decorations. Cal just smiles every time he sees a new one.

When Cal gets home, we're leaving for our ultrasound appointment. It's exciting because we're going to find out the gender. I can't wait, I've been practically buzzing all day. After running errands I even went to Callahan Media just to pop in and say hi, I ended up having lunch with Melanie which was nice.

I haven't talked to either of my parents since the gala which does upset me, as much as I hate to admit it. I've never had a good relationship with them, or really much of a relationship at all, but a part of me was always a little bit hopeful that one day they could just understand me and accept me for who I am. Now, I'm pretty sure that day will never come. On the bright side, Nancy, Alfred, and Jenny are overly ecstatic about the baby, so at least he or she will have them.

I save one of the brownstones that I like, just as the door clicks open and I turn my head to see Cal walk in. His button up sleeves are rolled up to just under his elbows and the top two buttons of his shirt are undone. His hair is just slightly disheveled, looking like he's been running his hand through it all day.

When he sees me resting on the couch, he smiles softly and walks over to me before bending down and placing a long kiss on my lips that makes me sigh blissfully. "How are you feeling today?"

"Good" I smile, standing up. "I was just looking at some houses" I wrap my arms around his waist and stand on my toes to kiss where I can reach his chin. "How was your day?" I look up at him.

Cal runs his fingers through my hair, lightly massaging my scalp. "Better now"  he grabs my hands and rubs the back of it with his thumb. "Are you ready to go see our baby?"

I nod with a big smile. Cal puts my shoes on for me and then we walk down to the garage where James is waiting in a running car. "What do you think it'll be?" I ask him as James pulls onto the street.

Christian and I still haven't made the pregnancy announcement yet so for the most part I've been holed up in the apartment. I don't mind though. Vivian and Travis come to see me all the time, so does Karman and Sam, and also Cal's mom. I spend a lot of time with Cal's mom baking and making new recipes with her, she's a great taste tester.

"I'll be happy with whatever" Cal replies in that deep voice of his.

I give him a look. "Are you just saying that?"

"No, Pumpkin" he chuckles. "As long as the baby is healthy I don't care what the gender is"

"Do you want to know?" I chew my lip thoughtfully.

"I want whatever you want" he squeezes my thigh gently.

I take a deep breath and look out the window. I'm not sure what I want. On one hand I would like the surprise, on the other hand I would be better prepared if I knew. I slip my hand into Cal's, delicately running my fingers over his knuckles as I continue to think. When I glance at Cal he's busy looking at emails on his phone so I look back out the window.

I have yet to make up my mind when we get to the doctors office. Cal helps me onto the exam bed and I lean back, shutting my eyes softly as he runs his fingers through my curls. I love when he does that. When he kisses me I open my eyes to look up at him, my face melting at the adoration in his eyes. I'm not sure what I did to deserve him, but I'd do it a thousand times over if it means I get to have him in every life. We haven't said I love you's yet, but I know we both feel it.
