Elena wouldn't tell me what happened with David. It was weird. But it made sense since they're 4 year old is right here. Her phone kept buzzing with notifications and the occasional FaceTime or phone call. Her face showed no worry and she was in her motherly nature with Diana. "You're not hungry?" I asked her sliding a bowl of hash browns over, she made a face. "No i'm a little nauseous."
I wrinkled a brow and shrugged. A waiter came over and we got boxes and left almost as soon as we arrived. Elena made it seem like a chore and a fast one. She tugged my sweater outside as Diana waited in the car playing with a toy- "What?", "Maya I want to go home." I scoff. "Is David even home?" She nodded fast.
"And trust me," She began, "I really appreciate everything. I'll pay you for breakfast and yada but I just want to go home. To David. Please." Her voice whispering his name like a curse. I put my hands on my hips and walked to the drivers seat. "Fine."
On the way home it felt long. After a long while of silence and hearing Diana snore, Elena started to look over at me. I gave the occasional glance to see if it was out of awe or regret. "What?" I mumble. She caressed my chin and whimpered. "Maya I want to be with you." I pursed my lips and stopped at a red light. "Elena please." She tapped her foot, "Maya." - "Elena stop. Seriously. You're not in the right state of mind." I felt myself get annoyed. "Well I wasn't drunk last night was I?" ,I exhaled. "No." , "So why aren't you taking anything I say serious?Hm?" Elena's voice got louder. I stayed quiet focusing on the road- "Maya answer. Didn't you want us?" She looked at the road too and sighed. We were at her street and not far from her house now. "We can talk about this later." I pulled the car into the driveway and unlocked the doors. Not a word was said apart from Elena waking up Diana. Not even a goodbye or a turn back. She closed the doors and I went home.
Elena walked into the house and looked around. "David?" She yelled setting Diana down and holding her hand, "Oh baby I'm sorry are you tired?" She asked. Diana nodded and walked Elena to the couch and Elena laid her down and set a blanket over her, "Go to sleep. I'm going to talk to papa okay?" She nodded and smiled. "Night babe." Elena kissed her head and tip-toed to the shared bedroom of her and David, peeking through the doorway- "Dave?"
She never used that name. Only when she tried to make amends or get him to talk to her once again. "David Ahmar. Talk to me." She sat next to him on the bed. "I'm not ignoring you you just keep blabbering." He groaned. "David. We need to talk." He sat up, "What now?" Elena crossed her arm. "David-" "-ugh stop saying my name." He complained. "David we are a mess right now."
Elena continued, "You leaked our sex steps, I slept with Maya, and neither of us feel loved by the other." She snapped her fingers, "and it hasn't been 24 hours. What are we doing. Oh and you tried marrying me?!" David dug his face into his hands.."Dude." "I have a name." He screamed and hit the side table. "Fuck Elena!" He angrily got out the bed and walked out the room. "David how old are you?" he looked back ,"Old enough to fucking know I'm tired of you okay! I'm tired of you're lies-" Elena put a finger up, "-Woah woah woah pump the breaks. You asked to marry me a few hours ago. Keep that energy." David was held back by Elena grabbing his arm. "Listen. What we need is a long long conversation and figure out why I'm like this and you're like this." He raised a brow, "So you're suggesting couples counseling?" she chuckled, "No. Just a simple 30 minute talk between us can fix us."
He laced their fingers together and took a pause..."But Elena you cheated. What do you not understand you cheated." Elena looked down in shame. "I know. And that was a mistake. It really was and both of us know it." She walked them back into the room and to the beanbags in there. "David I love you. I do. So much baby." David looked at her, "..but?" He asked. She shook her head. "But we are broken. Were not a healthy relationship. At all."
"We were two days ago." He shrugged. "Right." Elena admitted, "However- we cant just sweep our issues under the rug and forget. We need to talk it out is all im saying." David nodded and let go of her hand. "Lets go to dinner. Like we promised. Just me and you. No Maya, no sisters, just us two." Elena joked, "Like how we were before Diana?" He nodded. "Yeah like how we were before Diana.." They both laughed and shared a peck.
My upload schedule makes me cry.
