It's been a month since the twins joined the family. They've been a handful but nothing we can't handle. Ashlynn can be a bit too energetic but she knows when to behave and Flynn has opened up and he loves getting attention from everyone.
Today we were going to Nathan's place for a family barbecue since the whole family is in England at the moment. I was in the middle of dressing Flynn into a black onesie with the batman logo in the middle (Liam gave it as a present during the baby shower).
"Niall! Ashlyn needs a diaper change!" I shouted as I put on Flynn's onesie.
After I dressed Flynn, I turned around and watched Niall change Ashlyn's diaper. "She makes huge stink bombs. Isn't that right Love Bug?"
Niall calls Ashlyn Love Bug and I call her Ash. For Flynn, Niall calls him Buddy and I call him Lyn. Those are their nicknames.
"I need to go shower, can you feed Ashlyn?" I asked Niall.
"No problem." He answered. We've been fair with the baby duties, we'd take turns. Sometimes over the weekend Niall looks after them more since I look after them through out the week and don't get time to do the rest of the chores.
After I showered, I decided to wear a red floral camisole with a white cardigan over it, jeans and leather sandals. I went downstairs and grabbed the baby bags and Ashlyn. We pulled over to Nathan's new home and knocked.
The door opened revealing E.J. "Hey Kate!" He pulled me into a hug. "Is that your child?"
"Yup, her name is Ashlyn. Niall has her brother Flynn." I said pointing to Niall who gave a smile.
"Well c'mon in. Nathan is out back working on the grill." E.J said. We came in and went out back.
Most of my relatives were here, including my grandparents who I haven't seen in a long while and Jay. Everyone was sitting around the pool (I'm guessing it's for Liz to practice whenever she wanted to).
"Nath!" I exclaimed and pulled him into a hug. "I haven't seen you in a while."
"Nice to see you too." Nath greeted. "Make yourselves at home. You can put the twins in the crib upstairs if you want."
"Thanks Nathan." I replied. I turned to Niall who was talking to Nick. I walked over and interrupted the conversation. "Sorry Nick, I want to introduce Niall to Grandma and Grandpa." Nick nodded and went away.
I brought Niall to my grandparents who were peacefully enjoying themselves.
"Kate!" My grandmother exclaimed and pulled me in for a hug.
"Grandma and Grandpa, meet my husband, Niall." I introduced them.
"Nice to meet you." Niall said with a clear Irish accent.
"I see you're not British." Grandpa commented.
"I'm from Mullingar, Ireland." Niall told them.
"I would like you two meet your great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Flynn." I said showing them the twins who had their eyes wide open.
"They are adorable." Grandma commented.
"So Niall, what do you do for a living?" Grandpa asked.
"I'm in show business."
"What kind of show business?" Grandma asked.
"He's in a very successful band by the name of One Direction just like Nathan." I answered.
"Well it's nice meeting you. I think Flynn is hungry." Niall said. My grandparents nodded and we left them alone.
"You're grandparents seem very nice. I've heard most grandparents aren't too fond of their grandkids dating popstars, let alone marrying them." Niall said.
"My grandma is a huge Beatle's fan. The idea of Nathan being in a boy band made her happy." I replied. Flynn started crying, this made Ashlyn cry as well. "C'mon, we have to actually feed Flynn."
I went pass Jay and Maddie who were snogging their faces off and headed off to the kitchen. I prepared their bottles and gave it to both of them who stopped crying. I smiled and went back to the barbecue. I passed the twins over to my mom so she could pamper them.
Everything was completely normal except for the fact Niall and Nathan were in the pool full clothed. I went up to her and shot the 'what's going on look?'
"Nathan and Niall were having a childish argument then Niall slipped on a puddle and Nathan tried to pull Niall up but they both fell into the pool." Liz explained. I could imagine those fighting and slipping into a pool.
Niall climbed out of the pool and soon I felt a pair of wet arms wrapped around me.
"Niall!" I shouted, causing him to laugh.
"You can't stay mad at me for forever." He whispered in my ear.
"That's true." I whispered back.
"See Ashlyn, this is why you should be like Aunt Jess." I heard Jess say to Ashlynn. I rolled my eyes and tapped on her shoulder.
"What have you been telling my kids?" I asked my younger sister.
"Nothing, just telling them that I'm the best aunt ever." She said cheekily.
"No, I am!" Maddie said from behind. I rolled my eyes and took Ash away from those two. I went back to Niall who was having a conversation with Jay and Nathan.
"Hey Nathan, Niall and I have to get home. The twins need sleep." I said.
"Thanks for coming. Mom put Flynn to bed upstairs. I'll go get him." Nathan replied.
A few minutes later, Nathan came down with Flynn in his arms. It was such an adorable sight till Ashlynn started crying, making Flynn cry as well. Niall started singing 'Little Things' and the twins fell asleep again. We thanked Nathan and Liz one more time and went home.
A/N: Not my best chapter, nor my favourite :/ . I was going to post this later but since today is Jay Mcguiness's birthday, and Wanted Wednesday. I've watched the music video (about ten times already and counting) for Best Song Ever and the guys' acting skills have improved compared to their iCarly appearance.
