Nino and Remo were forced to their knees beside a dazed Savio, whose forehead was bleeding from a head injury.

I’m gently rocking Alessio to calm him down, and I would endure anything to protect them. But I can’t choose between them and my children, both born and unborn.

My heart felt like it was being torn apart as I looked at the scene before me. The only solace I found was that Serafina and her children were safe.

How could she, that cruel woman, even call herself their mother when she wished death upon her own kids? He approached them and handed them a knife.

"Go on, cut your wrists. I want to see you bleed out. I want to see the light in your eyes slowly die down." She said with a cruel grin.

"No!" I exclaimed.

"Shut up, bitch," Carmine shouted, slapping me across the face with the back of his hand. "I'll make you behave and be my toy once they're out of the way."

The thought of him being near me made me feel nauseated. Nino glared at Carmine, and if looks could kill, Carmine would already be dead.

Remo slowly took the knife and slit his wrists. I would do anything to make sure Remo lived. I hate the thought of Greta and Nevio growing up like me and my brother. I looked at Remo who has his eyes glued to his mother with a look of disgust.

He handed the knife to Nino, who then passed it on as well. Seeing the blood oozing out made me feel nauseous. I hadn’t felt this helpless since I was a little girl. I knew a protection spell, but wasn’t sure if it would guard us against fire. I didn’t want to risk my babies' lives by testing it.

Once Savio also slit his wrists, the knife was snatched from them.

"Now where is that woman you knocked up and the twins. After I've killed them, I'd finally have eradicated your father's bloodline." She laughed maniacally.

"Who? That bitch and my Bastard children?" Remo scoffed. "As if I'd let such weaknesses into my life. You know me well enough to know that I already killed them."

The way Remo spoke would have convinced even me, had I not seen him completely under their sway. He loved his wife and children and would have died to protect them, unlike his mother.

"Well, I guess I should have expected that. You're his child after all. Of course you'd be so heartless. Anyway, that makes my job easier," she said, glancing at Carmine with a smirk.

Before I knew it, I saw a shadow dart past me and stab that crazy woman in the shoulder. Adamo. Thank goodness.

Nino rushed towards me and knocked Carmine out with one punch.

"Nino, watch out!" I shouted as another man aimed his gun at Nino. The bullet grazed Nino's shoulder, but he managed to take him down as well. Remo and Savior eliminated the rest. Nino approached me to hug me, but I stopped him, pushing him away.

"Nino, I would love to hug you. Honestly, I really need it right now, but I'm covered in gasoline. I don't want to get it on you too."

Nino laughed in relief. He gently placed a kiss on my temple.

"Go ahead and wash off all the gasoline. I don't want you to be in any danger."

"I will if you let Fabiano bandage up your wrists and shoulder. Also, convince Remo to get treated as well," I said sternly. The last thing I needed was for him to bleed out.

"Alright, Mia Regina. I love you." He kissed my lips before heading to the basement to get Fabiano.

"Love you too!" I called out after him.

I took Alessio and headed into the shower. It took me a full 40 minutes to remove all the gasoline from my hair. Alessio enjoyed the warm water after being soaked in cold gasoline for about two hours.

After slipping into one of Nino's shirts and a pair of my own shorts, I went out to see Fabiano tending to Nino's wounds.

He looked up at me and smiled. 'Thank you for giving us a heads-up. All of us would have been dead if you hadn't.'

I grinned back. I gently placed Alessio in his crib. Fabiano packed up the first aid kit and left, leaving me and Nino alone.

I ran over to him and wrapped my arms around him. He laughed and hugged me back. This felt so safe. I brought his lips to my mouth and softly kissed his wrists.

"What are you doing?" Nino asked, amusement in his eyes.

"I'm kissing your wound better," I said, smiling.

He tugged at my arms and kissed me passionately. One of his hands slipped into my damp hair while the other wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer. I wrapped both my arms around his neck. After a few minutes of kissing, he pulled back.

"I need to help Remo deal with our mother and those traitors."

I nodded. "I want to thank Remo before you guys do that." He took my hand and led me back to the hall. The gasoline had been cleaned up from the floor. Remo's wrists were also bandaged. He was talking to Serafina. Nevio was clinging to Remo's leg like a koala. And Greta was huddled into his chest, her tiny hand wrapped around his neck. I smiled at the sight. Soon we'd also have twins.

I'll make sure that my kids are safe and loved. I know that Nino will do the same.

After Serafina took Nevio and Greta from Remo, I went over. I kissed each of their cheeks as they headed upstairs.

I went over and hugged Remo. "Thank you, Remo. I know you didn't have to slit your wrists, but you did it anyway. So thank you."

"I'll always protect family. And you are family, Hope," he said, gently patting my back. I pulled back from the hug and looked up at him.

"You did not just protect me today, Remo," I said, placing my hand on my stomach.

"You're pregnant?" he asked, his eyes wide with surprise.

"With twins," I grinned.

"Congratulations! Have you told Nino yet?"

"Not yet. But I will after he's done dealing with the traitors."

He nodded. I gently patted his shoulder and walked away to see if Savio was alright.
