I thanked Savio and returned to my room. After putting Alessio to sleep, I was texting my brother when Nino burst in, soaked in blood.

His eyes held a haunted look. "I finally did it. Now she won't hurt any of us," he said.

I guided him gently into the bathroom and filled the bathtub with hot water. I wrapped a plastic bandage around his wrist to protect it from the water.

He removed his clothes and stepped into the tub. I took a washcloth and began gently washing away the blood.

Suddenly, his arms shot out, pulling me into the tub with him.

"Nino, I just showered," I protested playfully.

"It won't hurt to shower again, especially with me," he whispered, drawing me closer.

"My clothes are wet too," I complained, though I was enjoying the moment. I kissed him tenderly.

"I have plenty of shirts. Or you don't have to wear anything at all," he said, pulling me even closer and kissing me deeply.

I laughed and pushed him playfully. After a few moments, I pulled away.

"I need to tell you something," I said slowly, unsure if this was the right time.

He looked at me, confused but curious.

"Remember when your mother kidnapped me? I was coming out of the hospital."

His face paled. I began to panic slightly. Did he not want more children?

"Are you sick?" he asked. I breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness he thought I was sick.

"No, I'm not. I went to the gynecologist. I'm pregnant."

Nino's eyes widened. There was a moment of silence. Then, he pulled me into his chest and showered me with kisses.

"We're going to have another child?" he asked, his eyes sparkling.

"Children. We're having twins," I said, snuggling closer.

He smiled down at me. "I promise to give them the best life possible in this messed-up world."

I kissed him again, feeling completely content.

Suddenly, he froze. I looked up at him, confused.

"What's wrong?"

"I just realized that today, I risked losing you and our unborn children," he said.

"It's okay, Nino. You saved us. We'll never leave you. We'll protect them together," I assured him.

Nino nodded, his eyes filled with determination. He held me close, his hand gently rubbing my belly as we soaked in the tub until it grew cold.

Afterward, we dried ourselves, checked on Alessio, and cuddled in bed. The exhaustion of the day caught up to me, and I fell asleep with Nino's warmth surrounding me.
