Hope Emily Nightingale
I took three pregnancy tests, and all three came back positive. I wanted to visit a doctor before telling Nino about our little creation.
I went to Savio's bedroom and knocked on the door. Since Adamo hadn't returned, I needed Savio to accompany me. I would have gone alone, but with their unstable mother still out there, I didn't want to take any chances, especially with the baby on the way.
When Savio opened the door, he greeted me with a teasing tone.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Savio, I need you to come with me to the hospital."
His playful demeanor shifted to seriousness, though he kept his lighthearted approach. "I thought you were strong enough to handle things on your own."
"Under normal circumstances, yes. But I think I’m pregnant, and I don’t want to risk my child’s safety because of overconfidence."
Savio paused for a moment, then gently tapped my belly. "So, you’re telling me there's a little bun in that oven."
"Maybe. I need to confirm with the doctor before informing Nino."
"Alright. Give me a minute. I’ll meet you at the entrance."
I nodded and headed there, with Alessio in my arms since he seemed cranky without me around.
I asked Savio to wait outside while I went in to see the doctor. It turned out I was expecting twins, which was wonderful news.
I handed the report to Savio. He scanned it, and when he looked up, his eyes were wide with surprise.
"Twins?" he asked, clearly shocked.
"Yes. I can’t wait to tell Nino," I said, grinning.
We were discussing how Nino might react when suddenly we were ambushed. Savio was fighting off three attackers at once, and I was struggling with two.
A loud thud interrupted us, and I turned to see someone had hit Savio in the head with a metal rod, knocking him unconscious.
That distraction allowed my opponent to inject me with a sedative. I held Alessio tightly to my chest as darkness closed in.

When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the back seat of a car. The woman sitting in the front had grey eyes disturbingly similar to Nino's. She was chatting with the man driving. From the surroundings, it was clear we were heading back to the mansion, where Serafina and the kids were. As my captors were absorbed in their conversation, I cautiously retrieved my second phone from a hidden pocket in my jacket. Serafina had the number. I quickly texted her to gather Fabiano, Leona, and the kids and take them to the hidden room in the basement.
I also gave her a missed call in case her phone wasn’t nearby. Then, I turned off the phone and slipped it back into my jacket. I groaned softly, feigning the grogginess of just waking up.
The woman immediately pointed a gun at me. I remained calm.
"I’m sorry you got involved with them," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "I’ll only use you as bait. Nino seems to have a strange urge to protect you. I’ll let you and the child live because you’re not related to him." Her smirk was unsettling.
I was relieved she didn’t know about the twins in my stomach. If she did, she’d kill both them and me without hesitation.
When we arrived at the mansion, the man dragged us to the gaming room. The woman soon followed with a can of gasoline. My heart raced as she poured it over us, soaking me and the baby. She continued to spread it around the room, drenching everything in sight.
Alessio started crying. I tried to comfort him by rocking him gently.
“Shut him up. Or I’ll shut him up permanently,” she threatened, pointing a gun at him.
I pulled Alessio closer to my chest. Eventually, his cries subsided, and he fell back to sleep.
I desperately hoped that Serafina and the others had managed to reach safety before they were discovered.
The man who had been driving the car earlier approached me, a disturbing grin on his face.
"I'm Carmine. Once the Falcone brothers are out of the way, I'm going to have some fun with you." He licked his lips and traced his fingers along my jawline. I spat in his face, which earned me a harsh blow across the cheek from the back of his hand. His ring cut my skin, leaving a gash that was sure to bruise.
"Carmine, we need her alive. We can teach her manners once the Falcones are dealt with," the woman said, sitting confidently in her chair.
"I honestly can't wait," Carmine replied with a sickening grin. I hoped Nino and Remo weren't foolish enough to storm in recklessly. I'm waiting for the right moment to strike, but I can't afford to act impulsively—Alessio is drenched in gasoline, and it's not just my life at risk.
I sincerely hope that we all make it out alive.
