"Yeah, so I have just a couple of questions," JJ stated.

The Pogues had all set about doing different jobs, prepping the boat to get them back to the Outer Banks. Home was so close, that Callie felt like she could practically taste the sea air.

"Let's hear 'em," she smiled as she watched him eye the boat.

He pointed to it, shaking his head with a laugh as he untied the rope that kept it docked. "A Lagoon 620 with twin 150 Volvos. You understand we can go anywhere with this thing, right?"

"That was the plan," Callie nodded, walking to meet him as he climbed aboard.

"Way to be discreet, by the way," he chuckled as he looped his arms around her waist, holding her close. "What did they even want? They didn't hurt you, did they?"

"No, I'm okay, I promise," Callie shook her head as she put her hands on his shoulders. "I gotta say though, I was worried for a moment you were going to leave me behind."

JJ's eyes widened as he leaned back enough to see her whole face, searching her expression. "Did you really think that?" he asked softly.

Callie leaned forward to kiss him, pulling back with a smile on her face, shaking her head gently. "No. Not really."

"Good," JJ said firmly. "Because you know that there's no chance I'd go anywhere without you."

"I'm glad to hear it," she smiled.

"So. . . why did they take you?"

"It's crazy," Callie said with a sigh. "Singh wanted Denmark's diary."

"Why?"

She shrugged, "I have no idea - he was kinda babbling. Something about it leading to a treasure a lot bigger than the Merchant."

"You're saying there's a bigger treasure?" JJ asked, mischief in his voice as he looked down at her. "Then, sign me up."

Callie chuckled softly, "Are you really that keen for another adventure so soon?"

JJ let his head fall to the side slightly, "I mean, I wouldn't mind some gold out of it but everything with you is an adventure."

"Oh, my god," Callie groaned. "I'm gone one day and suddenly you turn into a sap?"

"Longest day of my life," he corrected. "We didn't know what happened to you. I thought you might've been hurt."

Callie immediately felt bad for teasing him, leaning forward to loop her arms around his neck. "I'm sorry. But I'm okay, I swear."

"Did you wanna talk about it?"

The girl bit her lip, thinking it about before shaking her head. "Maybe later. I just want to forget about Singh and Rafe for just-"
