Zack stared at the empty seat beside him in math class, his mind drifting to you for the millionth time today. You hadn't been to school since the incident, and despite all the messages he, Mira, and Zoe had sent you, you ghosted them all.

He heard from Daniel about what happened when you ran off during the auction and he was mad at himself that he didn't run after you.

"Zack, you coming to karaoke tonight?" Doo's voice broke through his thoughts.

He blinked. "Nah, I'm not really feeling it."

"Oh, look, (Y/N) finally answered!" Mira called out, waving her phone around like she'd just won the lottery. Zack jumped up, practically diving over her shoulder to see the screen.

"Hey, sorry for not responding! Wasn't feeling great. Should be back tomorrow!"

Zack let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding. "See? She's fine," Daniel chimed in, trying to sound reassuring, though his eyes flickered with relief.

Mira glanced at Zack, raising an eyebrow. "You should go visit her, Zack."

"What? Why me?" he shot back, pulling a face.

Mira shrugged. "I don't know, you seemed worried."

Zack scowled. "So did Daniel. You didn't tell him to go!"

You flicked your cigarette, watching the rain from under the gym's awning. Training had been brutal these past few days, but after that run-in with Gun, you couldn't stop. You hadn't fought in almost a year, and it showed. You weren't able to escape Gun's grip and you were ashamed of it.

You looked at your cigarette for a moment, remembering Zack telling you to stop smoking before you put it out on the ground.

"Why am I even listening to him." You mumbled to yourself.

Your gaze drifted across the street to the black car parked there, the same black car that Gun left in. He was tailing you since the school event but wasn't exactly subtle about it.

With a sigh, you headed toward the convenience store, pretending the car wasn't still following at a distance.

Inside, you spotted small Daniel stacking shelves. "Hey," you greeted.

He nearly dropped a pack of chips. "(Y/N)?! You're back! Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just a little food poisoning or something," you lied, grabbing an energy drink. "I'm fine now."

Daniel paused, his gaze lingering on you for a moment. He'd seen what happened at the school event and knew you were lying. But he also understood why. A small smile crept onto his face. "Daniel told me you didn't go to school," he said, and you nodded slowly, still trying to get used to the fact that this guy and your classmate shared the same name.

"H-he was really worried about you."

You opened your mouth to respond but quickly shut it, unsure of how to react to the sudden confession about his friend. Before you could come up with something, Daniel threw you off once again, "What kind of gift would a girl like?"

You grinned. "You planning to buy something for a girl?" you teased, leaning in as if he was about to spill a juicy secret. Just then, the doorbell jingled, and you overheard a guy and a girl chatting about the weather.

"Men don't feel cold," the guy proclaimed, despite the goosebumps trailing up his arms. You chuckled, rolling your eyes.

As you reached the counter with Daniel, you recognized Yui from class. She was with the guy, and judging by his bright red ears, things weren't just chilly outside—they were awkward in here too. Your amusement vanished when you spotted the condoms on the counter. Zoe had told you that Yui had been all over Daniel last week.
