The next day, you stepped into the classroom, your eyes unconsciously searching for Zack. As expected, he was at his desk, his expression distant, as if the world around him was just background noise. You took your seat beside him, maintaining a composed exterior despite the subtle tension you felt inside. A part of you was grateful for the makeup concealing the faint flush on your cheeks—the last thing you wanted was for him to notice.

But instead of smiling back, Zack greeted you with a classic Zack scowl.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" he muttered, giving you the side-eye.

Before you could fire back, Zoe popped up beside your desk, with Mira close behind. "So, what happened yesterday? Spill!" Zoe asked, clearly hungry for drama.

You launched into the story, conveniently leaving out the part where Zack turned Yui's boyfriend into a punching bag. Instead, you painted the mystery hero as some random guy who just happened to be there.

"Oh, a random guy, huh?" Mira raised an eyebrow but said nothing, probably sensing the holes in the story.

Just then, Daniel made his entrance, heading straight for Zoe like a knight rushing to his lady's side. "Are you okay? You shouldn't be here. Shouldn't you be at home resting?" His concern was so genuine that Zoe couldn't help but blush.

Zack, curious as always, leaned forward. "What happened?"

Zoe filled them in on how some creep had been stalking her after one of her live streams, but luckily Daniel and Vasco had swooped in to save the day.

You blinked. "You didn't tell me?"

Zoe shrugged nonchalantly. "Honestly, Yui's drama was way more interesting."

Speaking of Yui, she walked into the classroom just then, her face a colorful palette of bruises, looking like she'd taken on a UFC champion. She walked straight up to Zack and handed him a handkerchief.

"I got this for you," she mumbled, looking at the floor. "I broke up with him. Thanks for yesterday."

Zack's eyes widened in sheer panic. "W-what are you talking about? I wasn't there!" He frantically glanced at Mira as you bit your lip to keep from laughing out loud. Yui was completely unfazed by Zack's confusion, which made it even funnier.

You made your way to the canteen as the bell rang, eyes fixed on your phone as you scrolled through your social media. Suddenly, you bumped into someone. Looking up, you found Vasco standing there.

You had been meaning to thank him for standing up to Gun on your behalf, but now that he was right in front of you, the words seemed to escape you. Vasco looked just as flustered, and for a moment, you both simply stared at each other. Then, his friend Jace appeared. "Is everything okay?" he asked.

Vasco nodded quickly, his eyes still locked on you. "Didn't you want to say something to her, Vasco?" Jace prompted, crossing his arms.

"Right... um," Vasco stammered, avoiding eye contact. You glanced at Jace before turning back to Vasco. "I'm sorry I misjudged you... I heard you're a good person."

You blinked in surprise, wondering where he'd heard that. "Thanks for defending me at the festival," you said with a smile. "I hope your nose is okay—I know Gun's punches hurt." Vasco nodded again, his face turning bright red.

You couldn't help but chuckle before heading toward the canteen. Just as you walked away, you turned back. "Oh, by the way," you said, making both Vasco and Jace snap their heads toward you. "You're a good friend, Vasco."

"She totally likes you, man," you heard Jace hype him up as you continued walking. You shook your head, a smile creeping onto your face. These Burn Knuckles guys were definitely something else.
